Default Question: Where was the "old" Michigan Central Station / Depot located?

    http://www.forgottendetroit.com/mcs/history.html

The above link shows an old drawing or photo of the "old" Michigan Central Station. Does anyone know where it was located [[cross streets)?

Also, the above article refers to it as old Michigan Central Station and also as old Michigan Central Depot. Which name is correct?

    Third and Jefferson.

This question has been debated here to an extent way out of proportion to its significance, and the best answer I have is still "take your pick."

It's where the downtown Wayne County Community College building is. The plaza above the lodge is actually where the platforms were [[the lodge went under the station). Then if you go to Lafayette and Rosa Parks, you can see where there used to be tracks, and how the tracks connected to rail that exists today.

The MC station was closer to the river, Fort St Union Depot was at the corner of 3rd and Fort.

Maps and photos of it in this old HOF thread:

Is the Fort St Union Depot visible in this picture? I believe this photo is of Fort St somewhere around 3rd St.
