Anyone catch this guy on American Idol?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KT1wdjlbyFc&NR=1

Since it aired hundreds of mixes and versions are popping up on Youtube, like this one:

OMG I love that guy! I will have that stuck in my head for the rest of the day. I hope he gets some good money out of this.

Luv the remix link. Hope Richard Simmons doesn't see it or there will be a new exercise video, "Dancing With The Rappers".

But Platt is not just some William Hungian TV clown angling for 15 minutes of YouTube fame. His real legacy in fact extends all the way back to the '60s, when he was a teenage crusader for the Civil Rights Movement in Georgia.

That's right: General Larry Platt isn't just a wannabe American Idol, he's a bona fide American hero. The man was even honored with his own holiday in Atlanta, Larry Platt Day, on September 4, 2001, for his "priceless and immeasurable contributions to society" and "his great energy and commitment to equality and the protection of the innocent and for his outstanding service to the Atlanta community and the citizens of Georgia."
Platt was actually a student of Martin Luther King Jr. back in the day, which makes the timing of his sudden fame quite interesting, given that next Monday is MLK Day. In the early '60s when he was only 16 [[see the 16-year-old Platt in the photograph here; he's the one on the far left), he worked with activist groups like the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee and Southern Christian Leadership Conference to fight racial segregation in the South. He was even beaten while participating in the infamous "Bloody Sunday" protest march from Selma to Montgomery in Alabama.

I hope he copyrighted that song or he may have to fight to make any money from it.

Thanks Pam! The General has single handedly given people something to laugh about at a time when we all needed it. He was on the View today, the video is on Youtube check it out.

Why were we, as a society, reluctant to address this absurd fashion statement earlier?
Sorry 'tis different than "bra-less" from decades gone by. Hmm, haven't "scene/seen" any ladies
    adapting this statement yet.

Good question. It always amazes me when I see some guy with his pants halfway down his thighs airing out his cheeks with one hand always grabbing his junk to keep them up, leaving only one hand left to function in the world. I always wonder, for instance, if the guy had to run for some reason, he wouldn't be able to, because his pants would be strangling his ankles. I've heard many different reasons for it, ranging from almost plausible to downright funny, like it's a glorification of or carryover from "prison-fashion" [[no belts allowed) to it being a solicitation or invitation for some rear admiral action. Either way, an absurd and disrespectful fashion is exactly what it is.

Years ago I saw a mannequin in a store window at the mall, displaying the oddest thing: a pair of men's pants with two waists -- one hidden and worn at waist level, with a belt, to hold the pants up, and a second waist hanging down, for show. Apparently for those who like the look, but don't want to worry about losing their pants. Very strange.

I searched "saggers" on youtube and I gotta tell you that was disturbing. Anyway, I could care less if some young kid wants to show off what color his underwear is today, I just don't want to see the whole butt business. I actually saw a girl at the mall with her pants sagging past her ass.

But like you said, their pants make escape from the police difficult. So their not all bad. Suburban schools don't allow underpants to show. Some don't allow low-slung pants. How about Detroit schools?
