    Default Valentine's Day Tea Fundraiser for Lincoln Park Preservation Alliance

    Lincoln Park Preservation Alliance is having a Valentine's Day Tea fundraiser on Sunday, February 14, 2010. 2 pm. Speaker to be announced. Enjoy a full afternoon tea with scrumptuous tea sandwiches, made by the person who makes them for the teas at Livonia's Greenmead Historical Village and Mt. Clemens Crocker House, Scones with Devonshire Cream and Jam as well as dessert. $20 per person. RSVP via our Facebook page or call 313-598-3137.

    Location is Ikaros Hall, 1677 Fort Street, Lincoln Park next to Park Restaurant, between Arlington and O'Connor. Its three doors down from the Mellus!

    Susan Marie Selasky of the Detroit Free Press will speak on food at the tea. Susan Marie Selasky is the Test Kitchen director and a food writer for the Free Press, where she has worked since 1984. She tests and develops recipes, tests and reports on new food products and kitchen equipment. She reports on a myriad of food subjects, people and events in the food world. An expert at navigating grocery stores, Susan keeps in a mind a budget when choosing recipes for both quality and pocket-book ease.

    She grows her own herbs and also is a fan of farmers markets and the eat local movement. Before working full-time on the Free Press food section in 1994, Susan worked as an editorial research assistant in the business department. Prior to that, Susan worked in the circulation, classified and national advertising departments.

    She attended the University of Michigan-Dearborn and Henry Ford Community College, where she studied writing, culinary arts and business. She attended the Culinary Institute in Hyde Park, N.Y., for food styling certification and received continuing education credits in nutrition. Susan lives on Grosse Ile with her husband, Doug, and dog Arby.
