Wild looking sky over Pontiac this morning.Ice or blowing snow is making a super sunrise.

The Ann Arbor Chronicle reported one on January 11, and I saw one at sunset a few days before that. A pack of sundogs? Wonder what makes them cluster like this. Something about the big snow clouds blowing over from the west side of the state, maybe?

In the morning last fall, I saw one of the most beautiful sun shafts and I didn't have a camera to capture it. Basically, its another optical illusion created by the atmosphere. You see a vertical column shooting straight up from the sun. Pretty cool to see. Could find it on wikipedia
