Default Waters cleans house; Riddle home with mom

[Ugh-oh, what a mess and these are NOT YOUNG FOLKS! Someone's having a pre-holiday garage sale!]

Sam Riddle won’t spend Christmas behind bars, but the indicted political consultant isn’t welcome back in Wayne County — at least temporarily.

Riddle, 63, was ordered by a federal judge Wednesday to move in with his mother in Flint at least through the weekend.

He also is to abide by a 9 p.m.-7 a.m. curfew, undergo daily alcohol testing, be evaluated by a mental health professional, wear a GPS tether and avoid contact with his live-in girlfriend, former state Rep. Mary Waters.

Riddle is charged by Detroit Police of felonious assault and domestic violence, accused of pointing a loaded shotgun at Waters and cocking it after she found him with another woman Monday.

As he left the Wayne County Jail, Riddle said in an impromptu news conference outside that “at no point in time was Mary Waters’ life in any danger.” He called Waters a “very fine lady” whose feelings were hurt by a man trying to “act half his age.”

On Wednesday evening, Waters was emptying her home on the 1200 block of Navarre of Riddle’s stuff, ranging from a set of golf clubs and two pairs of brown cowboy boots to piles of shirts and framed photos. She heaped the athletic wear, sports equipment and other miscellania on one side of the two-car garage attached to her house.

“I feel liberated,” she said. “I’m going to get my house in order.”

More than a dozen pairs of shoes, a rack of clothing and a pile of mail remained inside a bedroom on her second floor, however.

Riddle reportedly was found Monday in a compromised position with a 30-year-old woman, TaKesha Washington, who identifies herself on LinkedIn as a health assessment coordinator for LifeTime Fitness. Washington also was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana.

On Wednesday, Riddle was released nearly three hours after he appeared before U.S. District Judge Paul Borman at a bond revocation hearing. Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert Cares said the Monday incident violated the terms of Riddle’s federal bond release on two pending federal bribery cases.

Federal authorities allege Riddle delivered a bribe in the Synagro Technologies scandal. Riddle and Waters are codefendants in a separate federal case, accused of bribery to gain approval of a pawnshop in Southfield.

Cares wanted Riddle permanently placed with Riddle’s mother in Flint and barred from Wayne County unless meeting with his attorneys. But Edward Wishnow, one of Riddle’s lawyers, argued that would impede trial preparations.

Borman said he would revisit whether Riddle could move back to Detroit once his lawyers provided an address.

Attorney John Minock said Borman’s order that Riddle have no contact with Waters might prove difficult because they are codefendants.

Waters released a statement during the day Wednesday, saying that Riddle was “not found naked in my house in the act of having sex with another woman,” as police have told reporters.

The statement added that “the gun was not loaded and was not pointed at my face.”

Riddle has until Jan. 23 to claim his belongings from Waters’ home, though she said she had set aside essentials — like his computer, toothbrush and deodorant — for his sister to pick up earlier that day.

“I wish him the best,” she said Wednesday night.

Riddle, meanwhile, later in the evening posted a note on Facebook: "Home with my mom...Merry Christmas! Love you all."

Free Press staff writers Ben Schmitt and Steve Neavling contributed to this report.

I wonder what Gaddis and her listeners are thinking? I listened to some of her show and didn't hear people calling him a thug and what not. Say what you want about Kilpatrick [[and yes he should have stepped down) but he hasn't pulled a gun on anyone. Here's a guy who brings a woman into the home of his girlfriend and then has the nerve to pull a gun when he's checked on it. Isn't that being thugish?

Thuggish? Yeah, jus-sa a tad... now his stuff is to the curb! Standard domestic drama. The life of a "player". Shot caller! Holla!

Re. Gaddis, she is all over the place opinion wise. She knows who her core loyal listeners are. I listen as sometimes she has some heavy weight, important guests. But, her smoozing and leading of opinion and what not... sometimes I just tune out after a point...

    Over the transom comes:

"I thought the person in the house was a burglar and not Mary Waters. Mary was expected home later in the day, so when I heard noises I immediately assumed that this woman - who I wrongly invited to the home -, I assumed she had left the door ajar and that an accomplice was about to rob the house and possibly do me harm. I took steps to protect myself, but once I realized it was Mary the full shame and guilt set upon me and I submitted without incident to the police.

Being under the influence of alcihol and viagra, not only did I exhibit poor choices and poor decision making, but at no time did I intend to harm Mary Waters with a gun of any kind. I wrongly assumed my life was in danger, but once the truth became known I set my gun down and submitted to police.

All across America, people are harmed in cases of mistaken identity; when a father mistakes his son for a burglar, when daughter - fogged by sleep - shoots a mother in fear ... this fact does not make my lapses in judgement right, but I hope it serves to explain that at no time did I intend to physically harm Mary Waters.

I understand Ms. Waters feelings at this time. I would do the same thing if this shoe was on the other foot and not in my big mouth."

That's a new excuse, being "under the influence of alcihol and viagra". I wonder which clouded his judgement more? Pretty soon we will be hearing "Honey, viagra clouded my mind,."

Over what transom? Freep.com or Detroitnew.com....etc. I'd like to read the entire link... could you post it. Thanks.

U.S. District Judge Paul Borman's Christmas gift to the people of Wayne County is the quasi-PPO he slapped on Sam!

Unfortunately for the nice people of Genesee County, they got a lump of alcohol-sodden, viagra-fueled coal in their stocking.

Perhaps viagra is the cause of all this caution-be-damned "carrying on" with these "middle-aged" folk! LOL! Lots of showers and sheeting changing - I hope!!

PS. I am not bashing re. age! Hah! I am middle-aged myself : )

True after a while I turn it off because I get tired of the nonsense as well. A few weeks ago she was accusing Kilpatrick [[and I am no fan of the guy) of the attempted murder of Kim Worthy. Why da heck would Kilpatrick and his wife cook up a murder plot on a phone line that is being recorded? Several of her callers where saying the same thing. It just plain stupidity.

Yeah, that's COMEDY CENTRAL when she goes down those specious, silly roads. Not enough discretion at times. Though so much of the D's politics seems to be written from a comedy playbook, so you never know!

    True very true,
I am surprised that Comedy Central didn't turn into Court TV with a lawsuit against her and the station. Even with the Greene case [[and yes I hope they solve it) they have been getting pretty close to putting herself into a position to be sued. Maybe someone pulled her to the side during a commerial break.

Sorry Zacha, "over the transom" means that the bit of news was inadvertently overheard through a transom window above a door. That the news floated up, over and through the window and into your lap. Sorry, there is no source.

Remember, just last week a guy in St. Clair Shores was robbed while out on a Facebook date. He gets a FB hookup, and while he is buying dinner, her boyfriend is cleaning out the guy's house. So, it doesn't strain credulity that Sam could have flashed on that scenario.

I don't want to give him a pass as obviously Sam is a dog for doing a FB floozy, but being a dog and being convicted of attempted murder is a whole different thing.

Met a Facebook ho/and then I took her home/she wasn't much to see
Then my girl came home/I pulled a shotgun out/she called the cops on me

Think I better let her go/
    Looks like another love PPO

It's funny, you probably only see transoms in old black and white movies, usually in hotel rooms...but "over the transom" persists in the lingo...

This show has gone from a quasi-serious program to utter stupidity. Unfortunately a lot of the Black media in Detroit panders to what appears to be popular opinion. In reality, intelligent people tuned this nonsense out a while ago. She hangs on because her narrow audience is very vocal. Very, very sad. Detroit will never recover with people like her on the front line.

The bottom line is that Mildred is in it for Mildred no one else. Have you noticed that back when Kilpatrick was in office she kept talking about the Greene case? Now that he's gone they don't talk about it as much as they did. I thought they wanted justice for her?

Gaddis would have dug up Greene's body and marched it around the City County Building if she thought she could get ratings for it. Some of her more vocal listeners are just to stupid to get that they're being used.

Yeah, I don't take that Gaddis stuff as serious real talk radio, but sometimes interesting info "slips" out... Getting back to ole' Riddle, now that he seems to be really "trippin'", it will be interesting to see just what he tells when it is his time to take the stand! I wonder if he took his laptop on up to moms for the holiday so as to tweet and blog?

I didn't know that 63 year old men could still be sent home to mother by the court?

Anyway, re: Gaddis - I don't know about attempted murder, but Kwame DID say on those recordings that they were going to take Kym Worthy all the way out, when they got the money. And that was just glossed over in the news.. His explanation of what he really meant was laughable. So no, he didn't attempt anything, but the threat was definitely there.
