We've heard rumblings about this for a while. Looks like they'll be announcing it tomorrow.

This is backed by Jimmy Lifton, a Detroit native who's got an impressive resume as a Hollywood post-production guy.

Project also includes retail and residential.

I remain skeptical about this project. It just seems to good to be true, I guess. And where does our illustrious mayor come up with 3,500 permanent jobs as a result of this project? There just isn't that much ground there.

Hooray for ALLEN PARK! The new Hollywood of Michigan. I can't wait to see the new walk of fame at Allen and Southfield Rd. in Downtown Allen Park.

There is quite a bit of land, I'm sure the old Montgomery Wards warehouse/Danou Center will be part of the project. This could be quite a catalyst and I hope it is designed in a way to improve pedestrian linkages and in a context sensitive manner.

    3,500 permanent jobs
While 3,500 new jobs is great and all, I would hardly call it a success story when GM and friends will hack off 3,500 jobs with the flick of the wrist any old day of the week. Why is is so hard to create jobs, yet so easy to eliminate them?

I'm sure the Wards/Danou buildings would be part of it [[or the land they occupy) but 3,500 permanent employees? If that ground were occupied by solely densely packed office space I could see that but a studio? I just don't see it. Has there been any rationale for this 3,500 number released?

Now what happens to the massive GM Centerpointe campus deal, for a studio complex ? Are they going to go ahead with both projects and then duke it out for studio deals ? Another race to the bottom for wages, tax breaks, etc. ?
And there is also the old Casino project down in Detroit.
