    Default Sturgeon Spawning Beds

    http://www.canada.com/windsorstar/ne...5-f80c2272eb86

Last night had a conversation about Lake Sturgeon in the Detroit River. Since it seemed not to be of general knowledge, thought I'd let everyone know that Kwame isn't the only one getting lucky in the D.

The threatened lake sturgeon is getting a 550-foot long, $178,000 bed made for its spawning pleasure in the Detroit River.
And the big daddy of freshwater fish in Canada is not getting just any love nest but four kinds of rocky mattresses so researchers can find the best bed for the fish on a comeback.
    ...
The beds will be built this fall from the northeast end of Fighting Island toward LaSalle and could be even larger if the conservation authority is able to secure more funding.
The project is being hailed as the first fish habitat restoration project in the Great Lakes that will be done with U.S. and Canadian funding.
U.S. Congressman John Dingell and Essex MP Jeff Watson are expected to make the $178,000 funding announcement this afternoon on Fighting Island. Dingell called it precedent setting in a news release.
    ...
There are other spawning beds off Belle Isle in Detroit and two done by ERCA off McKee Park in Windsor and near Fort Malden in Amherstburg.
Child said the project off Fighting Island will be the largest.

    Can they eat the sturgeon?

Give a man a slave and he won't have to do his own fishing...

    Funny.

Are we going to try to corner the caviar market just as the Asian Carp are coming? Yikes!

Open a scrapyard offering 10 cents a pound for scrap Asian Carp, that'll solve the problem.

Tell people that eating Asian Carp will make them lose weight, live longer, and improve their sex life; that'll solve the problem. Maybe we can even offer the Japanese unlimited fishing rights.
