    Default Paging Gnome

Gnome, I think it was you who mentioned Cornell & Diehl pipe tobacco. If I'm wrong, well... oops! sorry!!
Here's the deal: JR Cigar sells C & D products. I am looking to expand my rotation of tobaccos. I like some aromatics; you know how I feel about "Haymarket." The "Buttered Rum" at JR [[not really a "house blend;" I think it's just something that places like JR get from a distributor like Lane, and label as they wish) is good, too, as was the "Eggnog" I mail-ordered from Habana Premium Cigar in Albany [[whose "Anniversary Kake" is just absolutely goddam wonderful, I might add.)
But, as is my custom, I digress.
What I am hoping to find-- and it stands to reason that at least one of the C & D tobaccos falls into this category-- is a nice, mellow blend of some Virginias, maybe hopped up with a little Perique, or something, but you know, something nice & naturally tasty-sweet.
You know how it is: some of the aromatics are terrific, but over time, I have come to feel that "aromaticizing" tobaccos is a way of, well, kinda falsely providing a flavor. The "Anniversary Kake," for instance, is not an aromatic, but man oh man, the guy who created it managed to blend just the right stuff, in the right ratios, and prepared it [[including pressing it into a dense brick) in just such a way as to produce a stunningly flavorful smoke without the presence of any aroma-producing distractions.
I'm sure that you get what I mean.
The point is that, at the moment, I don't feel like putting together an order to Habana; I just want to drive to JR [[in Southfield) and grab something new, tomorrow, and I'm wondering if you have sampled enough C & D products to put you in a position to recommend one of them to me, based on my rambling description of what I am, and am not, looking for.
I have been to the C & D web-site but, of course, they make all of their stuff sound great.

And, the last time I was there, I decided to try some Mac Baren's "Vanilla Creme," and that shit is terrible and induces "tongue bite."

I wish I could add something interesting, but I alas me thinks Ravine has cornered the Tobacco Porn market.

Oh, I picked up a great estate pipe awhile back. Haven't used it, but it sure looks cool. It features a scarb beetle crawling on the bowl. Once I figure out a couple of technical issues, I'll post a pic.

Gnome, you're a useless bastard, and I hate you.

Just playing, of course. I appreciate your response to my page. I'm going to try out some new stuff. If I find anything fabulous, I'll letcha know, although I sense that you may not be quite as
"into" this whole business as I am.
So much the better for you, I suppose, unless you're a heavy smoker of cigarettes, in which case I would say that you would be better off by joining me in my quest for a new bliss-inducing pipe tobacco.

Gannon or Django might be able to help you with that.
