I hope someone can help me out ...I am looking for a couple of addreses ...Abraham Weinstein my grandfather had a laundry/dry cleaner around 12st and Delaware - I am looking for the exact address. Also, Nate Sosin had a candy store at 12st and Gladstone and I am looking for that address.

Also, there was a confectioner at 8844 12th, southeast corner of Gladstone, name of Stanley Sameroff. Maybe Nate took over his business later in the decade?

I remember Klegon pharmacy well at Chicago and Wyoming. Right across from Mackenzie High, where I went for four years. Spent a little time there at the soda fountain. Here's the building today.

I too spent a lot of time in Klegon's while I attended Mackenzie. I bought Seventeen magazines and 5 cent Hershey bars[[1965-68). My recollection was that Mr. Klegon wasn't too fond of high school students being in his store. In bad weather I would wait for the West Chicago bus inside the store, and they always made a point of us being close to the door, so we were not taking up much space in the store.
The soda fountain still existed, but I never purchased anything there.

Is Abraham Weinstein the owner of the laundry/dry cleaners in 12th Street is one of Jewish owners in that area? Some of my folks who lived the west side knew him a long time ago.

While on another site my cousin posted pictures of my Fathers side of the family, and this thread got me thinking of when his family lived around 12st on Delaware. That would have been back in the 40,s.. I will have to look more closely at the photos for an adress.
