    Default Obama's Great Capitol Purge

    I found this interesting. from
    http://www.redstate.com/erick/2009/1...civil-service/
Obama Administration Intends to Purge Republicans From the Civil Service Remember how the Democrats reacted when the Bush Administration started replacing U.S. Attorneys? At least they were actually political appointees employed at the will and whim of the President.

The memo from The U.S. Office of Personnel Management [[OPM)
    http://www.chcoc.gov/Transmittals/Tr...smittalId=2588
Barack Obama is changing that. He intends to purge all Republicans from the federal bureaucracy retroactive to five years ago.
OPM is now claiming authority to weed out every former political appointee from being considered for ANY federal positions at EVERY level of the GS Pay Scale, for both the competitive AND excepted service – made RETROACTIVE for the past 5 years! [[This is a new, extra layer of scrutiny previously reserved for SES hires.) OPM will now check the recommended hires to “ensure they comply with merit system principles and applicable civil service laws.”
Illegally to fire civil servants based on how they are registered to vote.
I wonder what the unions are for this, maybe Ford can start firing workers because they don't like their political leanings.

It's clear that neither you, nor your sources, even read the God damned memo, which addresses oversight for hiring political appointees to civil-service [[READ: NON-POLITICAL) positions. The memorandum makes no mention of political parties.

People like you make me want to push for reinstatement of a literacy test at polling places. Use your brain and take your whining and crying somewhere else.

And for those like Mrrichard who are oblivious to how our federal government works, there are no civil-service positions in the Capitol, aside from the U.S. Capitol Police.

I applaud them for trying to get rid of the automatic pay raise increases and use merit for pay raises.
Last time I looked Obama lived in the Capitol and the US federal government was also located there.
Where did you go to school?
You can draw your own conclusions why they made it retroactive FIVE years.

I guarantee I know much more about how government works than yourself.
So you think John Berry, Director of OPM is a god damned.

Beginning January 1, 2010, agencies must seek prior approval from OPM before they can appoint a current or recent political appointee to a competitive or non-political excepted service position at any level under the provisions of title 5, United States Code. OPM will review these proposed appointments to ensure they comply with merit system principles and applicable civil service laws. I have delegated decisionmaking authority over these matters to career Senior Executives at OPM to avoid any hint of political influence.

The President of the United States lives in the White House. The Capitol is where Congress holds session. Take out a $20 bill and a $50 bill, and compare the backs of the two, before you gain too much confidence in your own knowledge.

Now, please cite the portion the memo that decrees OPM is going to purge all Republicans from the civil service ranks.

Normally I stay out of the political arena, but...

    http://mediamatters.org/blog/200911120029
Rush, RedState completely wrong about claim that Obama is purging Republicans

November 12, 2009 1:42 pm ET by Adam Shah
A post by RedState.com's Erick Erickson that Rush Limbaugh is hyping falsely claims that a memorandum from the federal Office of Personnel Management [[OPM) will "purge the federal government of Republican civil servants" and "force" former Bush administration political appointees who currently have positions in the federal civil service "out of their jobs."
In fact, the OPM memo does nothing of the sort. It merely beefs up current OPM rules aimed at preventing political appointees from "burrowing in" to the civil service, thereby receiving the job security benefits that civil servants -- but not political appointees -- receive. While the memo states that agencies must seek permission from OPM to hire people as civil servants if they have been political appointees "within the last five years," nothing in the memo creates authority for anyone to fire current federal employees. Therefore, the OPM memo does not "purge" anybody.

We will see what happens, Obama also said that unemployment wouldn't go above 8% if he could spend and redistribute a trillion dollars of wealth to shovel ready projects and other crap.

Where did I say the Capitol building, Washington DC is also referred to as the capitol.
Obama lives in the White House, gee I never knew that, thank you for informing me.

Right. And the Republicans in Congress prevented the stimulus from exceeding $800 billion. Krugman warned months ago that a stimulus package of this size would likely be insufficient to affect employment numbers. But I suppose it's more important to re-live 1938 and try to balance the budget in the midst of a recession, huh? Maybe once we get a $1 surplus, we can take that as license to shed $1 trillion in tax revenues again, just like 2001. Just because.

Washington, DC is NOT the Capitol. The word you seek is "capital".

Get your head out of your ass, and start paying attention to the world around you before you cut-and-paste.

    Capitol
I'll get back in a few months and we'll see what happens.
Obama's pitch, show me the money and I'll show you jobs keep it under 8%, now eight months later and 3.2 million lost jobs later, he now says unemployment will stay high for a loooong time.

Get the government out of the way not in the way of job creation.
Do you also believe that Obama created and/or saved jobs.
GP Are you always this angry? Has the stimulus plan got you in the dumps?
Maybe we should have a beer together like Obama and that cop.

He's always this angry because no one on the right that posts here does any investigating what so ever before posting shit that has already been proven wrong.

It would be one thing if something new and unchecked had been presented that would be worth looking into, but since Daddy Rush said something, well golly, it MUST be true. Thats what GP gets pissed all the time, and the rest of us too. Americans are too lazy to fact check on their own.

Krugman has become a total dunce. I wonder if he had a stroke or something. On what planet in what alternate universe, do the principles of socialism ever result in prosperity/growth, etc?

Wrong, It was not the President who said that unemployment would go above 8% if Congress didn't pass Porkulus by that Friday without having time to read the bill. It was an Obama administration spokesman who said that unemployment would go above 8.5% if Congress didn't pass Porkulus. Are you insinuating that all the Cash for Clunkers money we dumped into Korea didn't help stimulate the Korean economy? Shame! Shame!

How many turkey programs where no real business growth is stimulated are we going to have to suffer through before the voters/populace wise up and put a stop to this nonsense?

You want business growth? Tell businesses to stop running themselves into the ground.

    Personal Responsibility, ya know?

Haha. Yes the same folks that start a business and make it proifitable just arbitrarily change course and destroy it. It's a phenomenon. It's trade bro.

Like Goldman-Sachs and GM, right? Change or die.

Businesses that have solid business plans and are well-capitalized aren't dying. From my observations, it seems like it's the companies looking to make a quick buck, or refusing to adapt to current market conditions that are going under. Greed-atcha.

Any compelling arguments made by others are ignored by you anyway. I don't want to be the ignoree, versus you being the ignorant.

If you read the verdict on Reagonomics, you'll discover that all that "growth" only benefited the top 1%. The trickle down theory hasn't paid off for most people. Meanwhile, European nations with socialized medicine are paying less for healthcare and getting better healthcare. The U.S. is 37th in the world in healthcare. The question is just what percentage of the population will have to be homeless and unable to afford health insurance before Congress does something meaningful?
