Default The Babysitters - A movie

I just watched "The Babysitters" made in 2007.

It was quite good - definitely R rated.

I really enjoyed the fact that it was based in Southeastern Michigan. They never flat out say it - nor did they say the name "Detroit" - not once. Also, none of the shots were giveaways to being in SE Michigan. Unless you showed Detroit, it would be hard to tell one SE Suburbs apart form another suburb.

The clues that gave it away:

The main character lives in Southfield
    There was mention of "Downriver"
One of the main characters friends shopped at Somerset [[you never see the mall, they just mention it)
The characters ended up taking a trip "Up north" to the "cottage"
Last clue... all the chicks were sluts!... well kidding about that one

Anyone else seen this movie? I reccommend it!

Does this bring to mind other films which hint at taking place in SE Michigan?

How about the Time when the Hardy Family vacationed in Detroit? That one was a knee slapper, Particularly when Judge Hardy became a millionaire, would not let Andy leave the hotel because he was spending money like a drunken sailor!

There is a episode of the Munster's that takes place here, in which the family actually visits Detroit.

Also, did the Simpsons episode where Homer designs a car take place here?

Yep @ DetroitDad. Homer's half-brother Herb worked for an auto company and lived in Detroit.

No wonder nothing looked familiar. Kind of like Home Improvement with only occasional mentions but consistent sweatshirts. I think that was made in CA.

Anyone remember the short-lived TV show called Easy Streets, filmed in and around Detroit, in the mid-90's? It stared Ken Olin and centered around casinos coming to the D.

They had many shots of Downtown Detroit and the MCS.

The TV show Freaks and Geeks was based in Michigan.
