Anyone else hear about a detroit city councilwoman driving around barriers onto a movie set downtown because she"had to go to the bank"? Please tell me that its not true. Sad day if it is.

I find it incredible that any Detroit city council person uses a police escort for anything. Is that what the depleted Detroit police force is about?......with crime the way it is?


City council people should not have cars; not in Detroit anyway. In other cities where there is traffic and drive times are much more time consuming cars and drivers are needed. But in Detroit where there is little traffic council members should drive themselves in their own cars w/o any escort.

Once she was told she was on a movie set and politely asked to move her car, her reply was "can I take 5 minutes and go into the bank?....which she did WITH a police escort. She, like so many other politicians in the City of Detroit, think they are all above the law and can do whatever they please, whenever. There have been a number of movie companies working in Detroit that have had cars broken into; employees of the production companies have been robbed and now they have council members invading a set without any apologies. These companies are spending money in Detroit, Detroit needs them here... but with all the crime and uncaring officials, they will soon leave like many people have already done.

I want Ms. JoAnn Watson to know I completely agree with her. This is why she will not get my vote next Tuesday. I too, would not like anything causing a problem bringing business to Detroit, and that's exactly what Watson does.

This behavior by Watson isn't related to her having a swollen ego due to her position on the Council... She's been like this a long, long time. The only thing that ever shocked me about her was when she would be on time. Needless to say, I was never shocked.
