Default Looks like they're hitting the westside tonight.

Three houses at once at Hazleton and Keeler [[Brightmoor). ~Two together and a third down the block. ~That takes most of the fire companies on the westside out of service.

Just some jokers out for a little pre Devils Night fun. Hope those fires didn't catch on to any houses people were living in. Really charming way to have a little evening excitement.

Is Bing ready for Devil's night? If that gets out of hand this year, that could make the election much more interesting. He doesn't need a hometown version of Hurricane Katrina with him asleep at the switch like Michael "Brownie" Brown at FEMA.

Detroit will be on the National News again this year. The number of fires count will be down because ever since Young, the numbers have beem fudged. Garage fires, auto fires, garbage fires are not counted. Bing is not ready....no one is ready.

My wife and I patrolled our area a couple years ago.The people that were patrolilng a couple blocks away were shot at from a known drug house. We checked on them and helped escort them from the neighborhood. After that I learned protect your own property. Why risk our lifes for a city that could care less about their people. Were on the southwest side in a known area for house fires, stolen burnt autos, trash dumping etc[[Near Delray.)I've even been on the news for these problems. The city could care less.I've learned to just shut up and watch out for my own.If theres a problem here I'll deal with it We want so bad to tough it out with our fellow Detroiter"s.But I dont know how much longer we can stay. Each day you dont even know what street you can drive down to go to work because of the trash and burnt autos! The city council clowns know of it but could care less.Good luck to all this Angels[[ha ha) night and Halloween

Sportsfan, the trash and burnt autos are the reasons you're willing to pack up and leave Detroit? How about calling the DPW and request that they come and get the burnt autos. Regarding the trash, just get a bag and pick it up yourself. If it's your neighbors that are leaving the trash, then call the police and report them. I live near Brightmoor and here those loud and irritating sirens every night. It's irritating but it's not enough to get me packing. Maybe you're upset about a number of things and not just the fires and abandon cars.

I'm starting to think it's the same group of sickos every year who are doing this. It seems too methodical to be kids. There can't be a huge group of people that are so disturbed they would take delight in creating this havoc.

royce.I'm not talking about pick up garbage.I'm talking about whole streets shut down.Truck loads of trash.Tires, burnt cars, barrels of waste.I mean completly blocking streets. We have neighborhood get togethers a couple times a year to try to clean up the area.A week later you'd never known it was clean. As I said I even had the t.v news out and been on t.v.That was during Kwames rule and the council clowns said they did'nt know of it.The news combined it with different dumping stories. Its been a few years. But its got much worse. This is not trash that can be put in a bag. Were talking dumpsters!

Sportsfan09, I am sorry to hear about your problems. I am not surprised there would be illegal dumping in your area. Please do post pictures if necessary to convince those who do not believe you!

Just venting I guess. The abandoned house next to mine burnt a few times.Doing damage to my home each time. But you gotta love it .Now I have an empty lot next door that the city has never taken care of. So now if my wife and I dont want to look at an eye sore of a lot of weeds and trees. We have the pleasure of cleaning [[mowing, tree trimming, leaf cleaning),etc. On a lot we've tried to buy.Only to find that the person that owned it still owns it after after about 10 years of not paying taxes!Nothing like taking care of other peoples property.I woulnd'nt do it .But I have to look at it every day! Thanks for letting me vent. For some reason I'm really pissed tonite!

I'm sure there will be some firebugs who go to work expecting national coverage by Time.

I hope neither the local nor the national media give them the jerk-off ego stroking they're looking for.

I have an empty/boarded up house next to me, and the one on the other side of it is already a burned shell. Gonna be a fun week...

When I was living on the lower east side, the house next to us caught fire a couple of times. It had one of those very old garages that was like a small barn. As big as the house, much larger than even a large garage, but tall and long with swinging barn and overhead doors. Shortly after I moved, it caught fire and burned to the ground taking our garage with it. The fire jumped over the house I was lving in to the next neighbors house. A very dear and lovely old woman who was raising two teenage boys. Her roof caught fire but luckily just required tarping until repairs. We were hoping the vacant house next door would burn because it required constant attention to keep crackheads and squatters out. Every attempt to buy that house was met with ignorance and indifference from anyone and everyone at city county.

I know where that street is, you go in off Dearborn Avenue near the railroad tracks.

That was my cruising area last year on Angel's night. It was the only fire I spied the whole time. We went back by the Carbon Club and also as far east as St. Hedwigs.

When I started this thread I was looking at GoogleEarth wondering which three houses were involved since there only looked to be about 6 or 7 on the whole block both sides of the street included. Along with some of the comments I've seen here and some of the other runs I've heard over the last two weeks or so [[sometimes 8 or 9 a night), I have to wonder how many liveable houses there are left in town.

Good God, and Time is absolutely foaming at the mouth hoping for this one to get rolling. They sent a guy out to film and photo houses with "This Building is Being Watched" signs on them today.

They've got the stage set for either a minor blurb about the continued success of Angels Night, or a front pager about the "symbolic irony" of its failure.

Anyone want to hit Indian Village on Friday? Kidding of Course.
