Default Report: IRS eyes 100,000 for tax credit fraud

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/33391396...sonal_finance/

Those claiming this credit, better have all the paperwork in order because their returns will be reviewed with a fine tooth comb.

Whenever there's money involved, someone will always try to figure out a way to game the system.

So...Elganned, you admit that government entitlements are inherently corruption prone. Isn't a solution to be found via phasing out said entitlements and shrinking government?

  4. #4

    Default

Why, so private enterprise can increase its own corruption to replace it? As the net level of coruption would not diminish, I don't see the benefit.

It's like arresting a crime cartel kingpin; it doesn't make the cartel fall apart, it just promotes a new boss in his place.

Capitalism, correctly applied, has minimal corruption.

Correctly applied according to your utopian ideals, perhaps. But socialism "correctly applied" also has minimal corruption.

Socialism unabashedly admits to favoring collective good over individual rights...the ultimate corruption at the core of the philosophy. This is why it is a failed philosophy before it is tried [[and it has proven so every time it is attempted in history). The philosophy not so flawed [[capitalism), that has demonstrated tremendous success even when done in partial and flawed measures is the avenue to pursue.

You fail to demonstrate any link between "favoring collective good over individual rights" and what is commonly understood by "corruption"; you simply state that the one is the other.

    Specious reasoning. Dismissable. Fail.

    so⋅cial⋅ism  [soh-shuh-liz-uhm]
    –noun
    1. a theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole.
    2. procedure or practice in accordance with this theory.
    3. [[in Marxist theory) the stage following capitalism in the transition of a society to communism, characterized by the imperfect implementation of collectivist principles

Collectivism over the sanctity of individual rights IS THE CORRUPTION.

You simply state a definition which doesn't reference your assertion and then repeat the assertion as if proved. Non sequitur.

How is favoring "Collectivism over the sanctity of individual rights" equal to "corruption"? Or is this just one of the "axioms" of the Objectivist Church?

Yes, you almost have it, that is an axiom, or an absolute moral imperative.

  12. #12

    Default

No, I think I do have it: It's an "axiom" only because it's one of the Articles of Faith of the Objectivist Church.

And since arguing with a True Believer over the tenats of his faith is fruitless, no matter now irrational they appear to any outside observer, I'll be leaving now.

What is being overlooked in this discussion is the much larger theft of money from taxpayers, present and future, to pay for this ridiculous scheme. $8,000 rebates to home buyers will only temporarily boost the demand, and price, of homes. A month after this scheme plays out, home sales will again drop and the illusion that the economy has improved will disappear. We just went though this experience with the cash for clunckers debacle. This is a back door way of further subsidizing banks which are in trouble for exercizing imprudent lending practices. Like housing projects, Fannie and Freddie, and many other federal government forays into 'affordable housing', $8,000 checks will prove to be a mistake.

A is A...existents exist...no matter where a person hears those axioms, it does not make them any less valid...Objectivism points this logical premise out, it does not impart or detract from the stark reality [[how could it?)
