Default First they came for Rush Limbaugh

Conservatives are all about taking responsibility for one’s personal actions, or at least they used to be. Rush Limbaugh is facing the consequences of the buffoonish, offensive cartoon persona that’s made him a gazillionaire: The controversy-averse brotherhood of NFL owners harrumphed disapproval of Limbaugh’s role in a bid to buy the St. Louis Rams, and within a few days the group Limbaugh was part of dropped the radio bully from its bid.
I’m sure the snub is causing Rusty to relive childhood traumas, and I feel a little sorry for him. It must be awful to be kicked to the curb by guys who used to admire you, and the deep pockets you brought to their bid. And Limbaugh sure got angry that his bid ran into choppy water. “This is not about the NFL, it's not about the St. Louis Rams, it's not about me. This is about the ongoing effort by the left in this country, wherever you find them, in the media, the Democrat Party, or wherever, to destroy conservatism, to prevent the mainstreaming of anyone who is prominent as a conservative."

Poor boo-boo, it's the liberals' fault that prevents him from buying toys.

Never understood why a free-marketeer like Rush would ever want to join what is essentially a Marxist-styled organization.

    No-competition
    Government endorsed/supported monoply
    Public Image is tightly controlled
    Resources shared
Everyone is equal, except those that are more equal than others

Can we toss in Satan, evil doers, the Bush Crime Family?

So what- Charles Manson admits the same thing.

There is nothing redeeming in this assclown's character. Defending him on any level only promotes his racism, anti-semitism, homophobia, xenophobia.

Manson doesn't have "followers" claiming that they are in some majority.

And as much of an assclown as Limbaugh is.... comparing him to Hitler or Manson is not appropriate and is insulting. Especially for the victims of either.

Rush quote; "This is about the ongoing effort by the left in this country, wherever you find them, in the media, the Democrat Party, or wherever, to destroy conservatism, to prevent the mainstreaming of anyone who is prominent as a conservative."

No, its about him being a blowhard. He needs to take some accountability for his actions. He proves, as most loud, obnoxious conservatives do, that they are the movement of, by, and for hypocrites.

It is pretty funny though, that in this day and age a rich, white, middle age male is denied entry into an elite social fraternity of his peers.

Cheketts says they dropped rush because of comments he made about running the rams, when all along he was going to be a minor partner

This is a big liberal victory? Other than being an example of cowardly behavior on the part of the NFL and buyer's group and a demonstration of how liberal nonsense can trump our rights to pursue happiness on some level....this is beyond trivial.

what a laugh, bats. thanks. after many, many players came out and said "no way would we play for a team owned by that drug-addled race-baiting asshole" and after rush claimed he was going to be more than he was, he got dumped. smart business move by the group. Thought you would appreciate that. the market voted, the market said "bye bye."

guess it doesn't count when it's your idol

Not if you worked for the Rams and now have one less potential employer with capital that would pay for salaries and benefits.

The Rams are not going to fold because that turd isn't an investor.

Did I say they would? Read a bit more carefully next time.

Rush's little investor clique had a right to vote him out for any reason unless they somehow breached a contract. If the players wanted to quit, that too is their option. Had Rush tried to buy out the Rams outright however, his money shouldn't have been refused. The NFL commissioners would have just had to say, "There goes the neighborhood." Meanwhile Jesse Jackson, who has had problems with the word Hymie and Hymietown spicing his vocabulary was making a spectacle of himself pontificating over Rush's similarly crass comments.

Rush has the right to buy an NFL team if he has the money, but the NFL has the right to refuse his money.

Rush bring up the "left" and liberals. What a surprise. Can this fat slob go one day, or talk about one issue, without whining and bitching about liberals?

Seriously, he bitches about the same exact shit EVER DAY. It's boring and predictable.

Oh, I get it, Oladub. Free enterprise works as long as racist, sexist bigots are allowed to do whatever they want. The NFL is supposed to play by YOUR rules, huh?

Just goes to prove that money doesn't always trump what is right. Nice to see his billions being turned away at the gate.

How'd we get from Manson to Hitler? Who's bringing up Hitler?

But Limbaugh does claim to have "followers" in the millions who digest his brand of fascism daily. What's worse, a few loose kooks who go on a killing rampage with a handful of victims, or a bloviating fascist gas bag who destroys the minds of millions of the weak minded by his unregulated hate speech?

I venture to say dozens more have died as a result of Limbaugh's hate speech than we'll ever know.

Who said it was a big liberal victory? Other than you and Rushie trying to blow it up into a vast evil conspiracy to destroy conservatisim? Pa-leeeeze. Go cry into a pile of money and get over yourself.
You're right on one point: This is beyond trivial. Which is why it's so laughable that he's trying to act like some poor innocent victim of persecution.

GP, That's not what I wrote. Your reading comprehension is off a bit today. I wrote that his business partners probably had a right to give him the boot. I also posed a hypothetical situation to which you are apparantly reacted. I support the Green Bay Packers the only government [[socialist) team in the NFL by the way - not because they are government owned but because of their Lombardi, small town, superfans mystique and/or ambiance. Its liberty that works when individuals are not discriminated against for being different.

Blarf: "Rush has the right to buy an NFL team if he has the money, but the NFL has the right to refuse his money."
Are you also saying that banks have the right to redline districts and refuse to allow Blacks to buy in, that landlords should be able to discriminate, or that banks have the right to refuse to hire or sell out to Jews? These things have happened in the near past and are still happening. Assuming your answer to this questions is negative, then how do you justify being permitted to not sell something publicly offered to a class of people like Rush or Jesse Jackson who say crass things, or to those of political pursuasions one doesn't agree with? Its just another form of discrimination. Remember the line about race, sex, color or creed.? The hypothetical situation I presented, seems to be discrimination against creed.

Oladub, I don't think my reading comprehension is off. You implied that Rush Limbaugh should be able to buy an NFL team, and that the league shouldn't have any right to refuse his offer.

Had Rush tried to buy out the Rams outright however, his money shouldn't have been refused.
Sometimes, money ain't the most important thing, ya know?

Nobody is saying that what was done was illegal...just unethical.
