Default Lochmoor Used Cars on Mack

Has closed its doors for good. They tried to make it work after losing there Chrysler/Jeep franchise by selling Vespa scooters and used cars without any luck. Rumor on the street is that a developer has bought the property and they plan on putting up a McDonalds, again just a rumor, but it would be a good spot for a fastfood resturant. I'll never understand why Chrysler didn't close Meade Dodge instead, there new car numbers are very poor compared to Lochmoor.

GOOD. They got what they deserved. They screwed me over many, many times, so they don't get one bit of sympathy from me. [[And as far as I'm concerned "Pointe" Dodge, which I assume has now been renamed Meade, wasn't any better).

Lochmoor and Pointe have a great deal to do with the fact that I now own a Honda.

Is this the domestic vs foreign car debate, starting all over again? I can feel and relate to your anger, EMG.

So, let me review this. You hate Detroit and Michigan, happily live in the Southwest because its more "Republican friendly", and drive foreign cars. I bet your quite the life of the party.

BTW, I had nothing but good luck buying cars from both Pointe Dodge and Lochmoor Chrysler, maybe your attitude played a part in how you were treated?

Can you imagine this..."guy"* at a party? Oy vey!

*guy being a euphemism for a well known hygiene product.

Al Long on 8 Mile and Schoenherr will likely be the next to go.

Once these dealers lose their big names, they're pretty much worthless anyway.

Lochmoor were real jerks to me, and they "wall-jobbed" my dad's car more than once. I agree... can't really be sorry they're gone.

Weren't those Chrysler/Plymouth and Dodge dealerships owned by the same people?

I went over there one day way long back ago to check on a used car they had in the paper. Whenever I asked for a price, all they quoted me was the monthly payments. I repeatedly asked for a FULL price and even told them I wanted a cash price, not payments. They flat out refused to even discuss it. It was clear to me at that point that they were selling finance packages and not cars.

    I never went back.

My father bought a Plymouth Volare from Thompson Chrysler Plymouth in Southgate in the mid 70's. I believe the Volare was one of the all-time worst cars ever built by anyone. This car was so bad it came home for a couple of days at a time, then went back for weeks at a time. My father raised so much heck with them they gave us a semi-permanent loaner. We just kept the loaner and would call back every few months. At one point they lost my father's car for weeks. It was fine with us. I think it took a year or more to resolve that they were keeping the Volare and we were keeping the loaner or something similar. .

While using Google Map to look at the area where the fires happened the other night, I saw Lochmoor and Meade{Pointe}Dodge for the first time. I often wonder myself how former dealers like that would make it by only selling used cars and offering service. Guess I know now.

Many of these dealers that have had to switch to used cars and service are closing. There are new vehicles, service and warranty work, used cars retail, used cars wholesale, bump and paint that all were bringing in income to a new car store. That's alot of overhead.Take away two or three of these and the money can only out for so long before the owner shuts it down. Most of them made out very well in the 90s-00s,only feel for the laid off workers and their families.

Different owners. All Meade ever wanted to do was sell financing. The other dealers on Mack never considered them competition because of there poor bussiness practices. The people that they put into cars couldn't get financed thru normal channels. They didn't have many options.

Regardless of how you may feel about dealerships, domestic vs foreign autos, etc, the downside is the jobs lost to the employees of the closed businesses. We're nowhere near the end of this depression. We can only hope that alternative businesses open and thrive and can provide employment to those who've lost their jobs to the meltdown of the auto industry.

Yeah, I can't believe people are actually cheering when a business fails. Another empty lot is nothing to celebrate.

If and when the lot is someday occupied by a new business which provides a quality product as well as treating its service customers with respect, it will earn repeat business and thrive. THAT will be something to celebrate.

Places that provide the sort of treatment received by me and a few others above DESERVE to go out of business - that is what "free enterprise" is all about.

What is REALLY going to put this country in danger [[and truly is ALREADY contributing to its downfall) is this ongoing liberal entitlement attitude that just because someone fails, others should feel obligated to bail them out "just because."

    Agreed 100%.

And I'm sure you also agree that your net recipient state of Arizona owes net donor states like Michigan many billions, and will happily pay higher taxes to make up for this Socialist inequity, right?

You also agree to go without water in AZ, since you're stealing it from Colorado and Mexico, right?

And you agree that the housing implosion that has devastated your state much worse than anywhere else in the country is purely Arizonans fault, and you will not accept any further federal mortgage deductions, tax credits, or other housing industry supports?

One you agree to all these terms, I think we can take you halfway seriously. Until then, you're a bad joke howling from the parched desert moonscape.

All other ideological stuff aside, I agree with EMG and EastsideAl's sentiments about businesses that treat people poorly deserving to go out of business. Yeah, it's a shame the employees should suffer, but at almost any other time in our country's history, we'd accept it as a normal course of business. Do bad, get bad results. In a normal economy the employees would get another job. I don't feel too sorry for the owners. Especially if they practiced predatory business tactics. They should have enought money, by far, to live a decent life. Unless their personal finances were as bad as their business practices.

I sold Volares in 1977 they were so bad we had to move them around a bush to hide the bad side at Lochmoor

Yep me too after all the pain and suffering owning "American Cars" we are now the proud owner of a 2009 Honda Accord Coupe. Not to happy with our lady that sold it to us from Jeffrey Honda though...still bought it there because of their service department reputation.

No Crawford... you've got it all wrong!!! We've still got the 3rd richest county in the country [[Oakland)... REMEMBER???

So we don't need Arizona's money.... but I'm not sure what some discussion about water rights in the southwest has anything remotely to do with this thread...

The two dealerships were owned by two different people
