    Default how many walkable bars?

I was at the Tigers game last night and my friends and I got to talking about the various bars we passed on our way back to the Greektown Casino parking deck. It got us thinking: There must be dozens of bars in the central business district. We speculated on perhaps 35 to 40 within walking distance. Does anyone keep an accurate count of such businesses? Are we close with our estimate? What are some of your favorites? I like The Well and Cheli's Chili.

There's gotta be at least 50. I really only go to Hockeytown if I do drink. Truth be told, I want to associate with only my kind of people.

yeah, HookeyVille has a wonderful cheese fundoo plate. Cheddar, Roquefort, dipped in fudge is very popular with my cousin Bob and his retarded son Robert.

Fifty dedicated bars? Or fifty establishments that happen to also serve alcohol? I don't think there are fifty bars down there...

Did someone say....ROADTRIP? Wait, define "walkable". Are you saying walking distance or that patron is in a "walkable" state? Just asking.

How about a Google Map search of keyword "Bar" within 2500ft of Comerica?

There's tons of bars: Cheli's, Town Pub, Coach's Corner, Old Baltimore/The Well, Detroit Pub, just to name a few.

Are you implying that business owners in Detroit are apathetic or lazy? You should come visit some time and see how dedicated these places are. Arrogant East Coast snobs ...

I can see four alone from my office window -- Jacoby's, Sweetwater, Detroiter, Beaubien Street. Used to see Nikki's before they built the Greektown valet garage.

I can count at least 45 bar type places off the top of my head. That's not including any of the places that are more of a fine dining type resturant or the dance clubs.

According to inside Detroit there are over 100 bars and resturants in the downtown area. They even have a nice checklist for your drunken staggering pleasure.
