Time shoutout to Detroitblogger John

Well-earned national recognition today from Darrell Dawsey, who links to Sept. 16 Metro Times feature on local wall advertising artists by Detroitblogger John.

Hand-painted wall signage was standard decades ago. Good to know the tradition lives on here in the D.

Nice but hmm... absent is any acknowlegement that John's is the Detroit Blog.

Yeah - I started to tear that dude up in his comments section for jacking "Detroit Blog" as a handle. It is either totally cynical one upsmanship, or else it is complete ignorance. Hard to believe TIME doesnt hit the Google before pulling triggers on new products like this blog.

So, big "pfffffft" from me - too little too late.

While I think carpetbagging is a little harsh I would note that John is only listed as Detroitblogger John, his MetroTimes handle, and it feels like care has been take to avoid mentioning his outstanding and internationally renowned Detroit Blog or linking to it: http://detroitblog.org.

It will be interesting to see if Time's blog will eventually bump John's number one position in the organic listings for Google search for "Detroit Blog". So far John's is holding.

While I think carpetbagging is a little harsh

Yeah, Im coming back to modify that...too harsh. More accurately, there is always a fear of a large company coming in and ripping off locals. Easy for a local to be too defensive.
