In The News today, Michael Hodges reviews a six-person exhibit opening with a Saturday evening reception and subtitled "Paintings Inspired by the Metro Detroit Landscape."
These realistic portraits of the real Detroit -- no glossing-over here -- are rendered with such skill and palpable affection that they virtually rebuke the easy cliches about America's most-beleaguered city.

Indeed, at their best, they offer a way of seeing the city that many might find oddly reassuring.
The artists are Clinton Snider, Taurus Burns, Darcel Deneau, Bryant Tillman, Nicole Macdonald and Laura Macintyre.
