Default These communities are leading Metro Detroit's population growth

The Asian American populations of Wayne, Macomb, and Oakland counties jumped 8% from 2023 to 2024, the most of any ethnic group. The number of Hispanic residents in Macomb and Oakland counties has increased by more than 10% since 2020. The latest Census Bureau release contains county-level data on age, race and sex across all U.S. states and Puerto Rico through July 1, 2024. It uses an adjusted version of the 2020 decennial census and updated information on births, deaths and migration.

Census data released earlier this year showed that Michigan's population grew more in 2024 than it had in several decades, driven in large part by immigration to Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties. Those three counties grew by more than 30,000 residents. Michigan's population increased by 57,000 residents in 2024 to 10.14 million due solely to immigration growth.

Grand Rapid's population is over 200,000. It will be the next Detroit of the Western Michigan Area in a few years.

Because all the digital news was free and paper sales tanked?

Without reading the article I'd think that in part immigration and larger families having their children would lead to population increase.

Everybody wants money. Simple things that we took for granted, aren't anymore.

^ Yep! Needs money - more. FACTS. For a carton of milk or that unwise Alfa Romero SUV you were talked into purchasing.

We all paid for newspapers back in the day. That's how you paid real journalists and reporters. Some community newspapers relied on just advertisers but that is not sustainable. All legitimate news services are behind paywalls and they are less expensive than their printed ancestors.

Fine and dandy, save for complete garbage reporting/spelling/locations and the ever incessant GW and other ads.

I would gladly pay for a paper that reports news, etc.
Just as our family did for 75 years. Not for 3.75 each day.

WSJ or NYT is good for what they are, but not Detroit based.

The online version of both Detroit Dailies are not expensive and even have the look of the hard copy. There are even extras you didn't get with the printed versions. They have to adapt to the digital age.
