Default Malcolm X's historic Inkster home opens to the public.

A very divisive and polarizing figure, his extreme views negated all of the positive things he was trying to accomplish. They should move it to Greenfield Village cause you aint’ gonna’ wait in line to get in here in Inkster..

I wouldn't bother no matter where it was.

You can't be serious? This sounds exactly like the divisive and polarizing figure who's currently in office.

So they're going to open a boarded up bungalow with nothing related to him in it. That sure sounds exciting. He lived in Omaha, Lansing, Boston, Harlem. Are we going to get to visit empty houses in all those areas?

No..they said all his old stuff is still there just like it was back then frozen in time. You can take a shit on the same toilet he used.....

I see absolutely no point in this but if they really think it's worth preserving then move it to The Henry Ford where it would be maintained and visited. If the Henry Ford doesn't want it that should say a lot about it's historical value.

That photo's origin is described on Reddit here. It's from some metal business. It has nothing to do with Malcom X's living conditions.

And it's not exactly news. From December 28, 2023:
Restoration of Malcolm X's old home in Inkster on track for 2024 completion

And everything to do with CassTechGrad, who apparently sleepwalked through schooling.

I'm not particularly interested in that house or bathroom status therein.

What Malcolm said and CHALLENGED as he evolved, up thru his murder, is more interesting. Prophetic in many ways to today.

Indeed he was living in 'divisive' times. I'm not 100 and recall Jim Crow and other racism here in Michigan as did he more with the slaying of his father etc. Having studied Malcolm X's life - speeches, etc I learned [while not in full agreement with him] that near of end of his life he questioned the 'white devil' teachings of Elijah Muhammad [Nation of Islam].

This change in his thinking occurring in part after he traveled to Mecca where he saw and prayed with Muslims [practicing World Islam] of all races.

Further, ahead of his time, Malcolm X took a more heterodox [independent thinker] approach to the right vs. left [conservative/ liberal] policies and politics applied to black people.

With great intentionality Malcolm X warned that actually the 'liberal' was more to be concerned with in their handling of 'the negro' [his words']...

See sample video at starting at about 0:38.

He spoke about the need for black people to be wary of both parties. I concur.

'Head on a swivel' [my words].

I know, nothing new about the story. Vacant, fire damaged restoration ect… It just cracked me up pretty good. For myself the ‘so and so slept here’ stuff goes over the top. Throw some religion in the mix and it gets even worse.
