Yep. Some blame the banks for front-loading their car loans [even 2K monthly]. Finally noticing their payments not going to principle. ONLY INTEREST!

Really wish GM had kept the Cruze over the now discontinued Malibu. There is still a market for small sedans at a reasonable price. All the foreign makes - Civic, corolla, elantra, mazda 3, kia k4 are doing fine.
All those makes you listed appear to be building a lot of brand loyalty at the same time by making an entry level sedan and doing it pretty darn well. The Detroit 2 1/2 seem to be taking a pass on that these days.
The Detroit 2 1/2 as you say, are more interested in profit making pickups, and luxury SUV's, gas or electric.
