Default Longtime NDP MP Brian Masse Unseated in Windsor West

Wow. This has to be the wildest Canadian election I have ever followed. Locally, it saw the unseating of the New Democratic Party MP Brian Masse, who lost so badly he finished third. Also, I can't recall the last time all three Windsor ridings [Windsor West, Essex, and Windsor-Tecumseh] went to the Conservatives.

Masse's loss was part of a bigger national disaster for the NDP, which may end up holding only 4 or 5 ridings. Its leader, Jagmeet Singh, lost his riding and has resigned.

The Conservatives, who had high hopes until the trade war and threats to Canadian sovereignty ignited a surge of patriotism, saw their leader, Pierre Poilievre, who had leaned toward the US administration and once held a big lead in the polls, become its victim and even lose his riding and sink his party in defeat.

So the Liberals will get to form the next government, but it is unclear if they will have a majority in Parliament or if they will go into coalition. The latter situation may give the devastated handful of NDP MPs some leverage.

It will be questionable how long the new government can endure. Thoughts?

New canadian PM Mark Carney is a climate change fanatic.

I saw Mark interviewed on John Stewart several months back and he is one smart man. It was before he declared that he was running, but you could tell it was coming. Great interview and glad he won

    This is a sad day.

Having a globalist puppet in charge will be HORRIBLE for Canada. So bad it will even be bad for the US.

    My prayers for Canada.

    This is a happy day.

Having an intelligent person in charge will be GREAT for Canada. So good that it will even be good for the U.S.

Someone who will not bend the knee to our fascist furher can inspire us all. Elbows up!

    My prayers for the U.S.

Fascist? Trump isn't AT ALL like Obama.

Time will tell how the new guy shakes out, but his renewable energy thing will be a disaster. Wind and solar are the dirtiest, least reliable and most expensive forms of energy. Think of that,.. going "Green" by going from the least polluting to the most polluting forms of energy. LOL

That huge increase in energy costs will mean a big competitive disadvantage in Canadian manufacturing, which means wages will need to be lowered to stay competitive in the world market. So imagine the working class having to pay 3-5x energy costs and lower wages at the same time? Not good. And it gets COLD in Canada. Cheap and reliable energy [esp home heating energy] is critical.

No one will now build a manufacturing plant in Canada, and most CEO's are now making plans to move their production to the US or elsewhere. [At least any plants that require much or stable power]. Germany tired this and it failed miserably. Merkle closed most nuke plants to go 'Green", and it was a disaster. They had to re-open coal plants.

And yes, this aspect will be very good for the US, but on balance I still think it will be a negative.

Poilievre was up like 50%, and then he attacked Trump and lost. To me that's evidence that the majority of Canadians want someone more like Trump than what they've had. They made their choice it seems.

And for all their progressive liberal wisdom Canada has not really addressed their OWN racism. More are speaking out!
