Well, the old scheme was to cut taxes and still spend more, which is why the federal debt looks like this:

I wonder what's up with Hamtramck, Flint and West Bloomfield's school districts? They didn't seem to find an approved way to spend their 'remaining' money quite bigly!

The cost of building private jets and super yachts has gone up the roof. I can only empathize with these folks. Whatever tax dollar they can save allows them a little leeway.

Exactly, funding superpacs and paying voters a million a pop just to have a president in your pocket is extremely expensive. They need more tax cuts!

Apparently, the state has plenty of money so they will do just fine without these funds.

This isn't about fiscal responsibility, it's about destroying public education for the benefit of charter school campaign donors. Also for the benefit of unaccountable, half baked homeschooling to keep people dumb so they continue to vote Republican.

^ What? I think it's just a tad deeper than that [homeschooling = dumb repub voters = let's not re-evaluate or critique public education].

I'm a supporter of public education at multiple levels, but what explains the ever-declining level of reading and writing proficiency for say Baltimore schools?

    We must do better!

Or more [who can] will choose other options if results are better [not to say all charter or home school options are without issue]:

Silly me. I was under the impression that the Congress had the power of the purse and the Executive Branch was charged with executing the laws passed by Congress.

Yep... indeed it's dictator Trump and Elon Muskolini's doing to destroy the woke educational system.

Fight back liberals. Or you won't get your free lunches.

    YAY ! Great news.

If they can't find a way to waste millions in covid relief money, even 4 years after it's gone, the gov't SHOULD claw back OUR money.

Finally, a shred of common sense in gov't.

Now we can sit back and see who the scammers are, as they out themselves by crying about how they hadn't yet figured out a way to waste the unused funds.

There may be a story to be told by someone with knowledge and understanding of the situation.

Reminds me of another rocketman with a chainsaw, and his subtle humour dealt on Americans.

In the meantime US school scores continue to drop.

Why? Some at zero or near zero levels - despite what's being spent! This is where we are recently, and just a few years back:

From NPR: U.S. reading and math scores drop to lowest in decades

Well, blame social media, kids having screen time in their cellphones looking and playing video games in junk news.

^ Yep. Some blame can be assigned there.
