Default The Sapphire Apartments in Southfield

That was previously North Park Towers, the twin towers off the Lodge. It was the nicest apartment complex in that area for quite a while. Windows are now broken out and boarded up, the place looks like it's becoming abandoned. Same thing happened to the old Embassy Suites hotel further north. Besides problems with management, anybody know what happened over there?

The Sapphire Apts. did have some 'PJ' problems 7 years ago when
maintenance problems cause to have no heat for a while. It's still a mess today. Yes, it used to nice place many years ago. It's now part of the ruins of Northland Mall Area.

Southfield in general is in decline. Old tract houses and old office buildings with only strip malls as attractions. It's not a place many people want to move to unless the price is low enough.

Please forgive my post, it is completely erroneous. I was looking at the hotel right across the street and south of the Sapphire. That hotel has been abandoned, the Sapphire Apartments are a going concern.

Not to mention, Southfield has the highest property taxes in Oakland County. Which I find odd since W Bloomfield is in Oakland County.

Odd way to wish someone well, posting the street they live on and a picture of their house on a internet forum...

I second that. RIP Big George. Such an engaging personality, and overall great person.

Yes, not all of Southfield is tract house or ranch styled.

The Ravines and areas near the Farmington Hills, Franklin borders and off Orchard Lake Rd etc. are very nice and wooded per where he lives. And no, I don't like the idea of showing peoples home address even if easy to obtain. Too many thieves and ideology evangelists seeking to rob, swat, or otherwise.

Though that community probably has private duty patrols.

I drove up there this weekend to check out the old Sapphires \ North Park Towers. The most northern tower is completely vacant and looking rough. The southern tower appeared mostly occupied. Wondering if a remodel for the vacant tower is in cards?

The blighted Plaza Hotel directly to the south east is definitely an eyesore and has to negatively affect the ability of the towers to attract tenants.
