I'm curious what these businesses are. Anyone know anything about any of the businesses they say they have incubated? Is this legit earned or just good marketing? If they were as successful as this award suggests, shouldn't we be tripping over startups in Detroit?

This is very legit and exciting. The Michigan Central complex is envisioned as Ford's campus for its cutting-edge mobility technologies--electric vehicles, driver assistance enhancements, driverless vehicles, ride-sharing, drones, and anything else shaping the future of mobility.

The lesser story about the Michigan Central complex is the nearby beautifully restored former post office building, now called NewLab. It opened a couple of years before the MCD opened. It is a mobility-solutions-focused business incubator that provides space, facilities, and connections to Ford for start-up businesses. Not long ago, I heard the facility had achieved the 100th business mark. I see it now is over 130. Check out some of those start-up's solutions here: https://pilots.michigancentral.com/

IMO, this is great for Detroit and Michigan to have this brain-powered emphasis. The forthcoming nearby University of Michigan innovation center will be a big plus too.
