If banks can replace 90 percent of a bank tellers job with ATMs, they can automate what barristas do.

    What's your point?

^ Probably that the baristas should be careful moving forward, or they could find themselves unemployed.

They all presume that each location is making a killing, and can easily double their wages. But that's almost never the case.

Sure Starbucks corporate makes a lot of money sure [$3.76B?], but that' because they have more than 40,000 stores [plus the online], and assets worth $31.4 Billion. That 3.76b net only represents 15% of their $25B gross.

Each individual store location makes about $125k a year.

    Figure 5 employees per shift, [2 shifts a day] X 13 hours a day that they're open, X 365 = 23,725 employee hours.

That means a $5.25 per hour raise would eliminate 100% of their profit.

Even a $2.50 raise would mean there's no incentive for the franchisee to keep the location open. WAY too much stress, hassle and liability on the franchisee for a mere $60k a year. Especially when they can be bankrupted at any time by a strike.

Eventually, that will apply to everyone. IIRC those who discussed the end of work included Aristotle, Jesus, and Marx; and now Maralago Mussolini is making jobs disappear.

Why should he care about anyone’s job. He’s playing golf with the Saudis today.

Wonder what they are talking about today? The Saudis filling him in on what war they need us to fight for them or the resumption of them taking over even more of professional golf and hosting it at the few of Trumps golf courses that were left out the first time around? Of course it’s a given that Trump will let them know exactly when he will pull back on the tariffs so they can load in on Wall Street and clean up, that will be ironed out before they putt out on 2.

    @ABetterDetroit/

Oh yes, and that 46% tariff rate on Vietnam nixed just in time when they agreed to buy Boeing aircraft, etc…

I guess the golf resort deal [[1.5billion$) he had entered into last october with a developer [[just leasing the Trump name) wasn’t enough of a grease palm…. Face palm…

Larry Summers says Trump’s ‘masochistic’ tariffs will cost $300,000 per family of four

    Per year that is.

The idea of isolationism is contrary to everything that makes the US great. But Chump managed to sink a casino with his particular brand of "it's going to be great".

I especially like the concept of unilateral negotiations with single countries, but taking on all of them at once. What happens when Europe and Canada team up, the Bric countries do the same, and all other countries constitute blocs to negotiate.

What happens if the parties remain steadfast and decide to apply counter tariffs, which then hinder American exports more than they do now. Chump promises to up the tariffs to a higher degree. At what point does the US stop importing foreign goods because companies can't pay for them, the end user either?
New alliances are on the way with urgency, new trade routes, with a focus on insulating countries from American bullying tactics. Frankly, Chump has added a turbo to China's economic engine, which is already impressive, by any measure. Whatever advantage the US had in terms of image, and benign power is vanishing fast.

Chump's negotiation style has rebranded the country into something that the rest of us on the planet cannot, and will not forget, but hey, eh?

Wow, this thread not only went off topic, it went full woke-tard.

$300k more per fam of 4 per year? LOL. Anyone with an IQ over 40 knows that moron is lying.

Truth is, the tariffs are to get the other countries that have been ripping us off for decades to drop their tariffs. OBVIOUSLY!

Most of those other countries will be bankrupt in months without being able to sell their goods to us.

As of Friday, 50 countries had already reached out to set up trade negotiations.

$300k PER YEAR! LOL, these tariffs won't last 2 months. Some won't last a week.

And prices only go up if you insist on buying those particular foreign goods.

Let's say you're a low income family. How much foreign goods do you really NEED to buy? After rent [domestic], and transportation [domestic] and utilities [domestic] and and food [85% domestic], what else is there? kids clothes at Walmart? A new flat-screen TV?

Just hold off on the new TV for a couple of months, and Trump's work to end the trade war that all these other nations started will have cost you nothing.

On top of that, perhaps you and your children will be able to find middle class jobs one day. Something the elites have worked so hard to eliminate.

Next you all will be telling us we need to panic over the stock market.

Why panic? MAGA insiders to the President are making a killing shorting the indexes with his on off again game. This is very fast easy money for those on the inside of the ‘King of Debt.’ Easier than selling ball caps and social media. No worries, just how he rolls. I’m sure all your hooker payments are fully tax deductible as a business expense just like his. That’s ‘perfectly legal.’

Ahh, Politico, the place that got $8 million from the Biden admin to repeat their propaganda.

Doesn't make much sense though does it? After all, the president told the world on live TV what was coming weeks and months ahead if time.

How about you gander the article below instead.

Trump is the only modern president NOT to get richer from being president. In fact he lost $600 million to a billion because of his first term depending on the source. [He's also the only US president not descend from slave owners.]

Buy you hate him for that because the paid-for media says you should.

Not sure what this has to do with Starbucks baristas. Henry does this sort of thing anytime someone makes a valid point. He changes the topic and starts calling people names. I think hate is the only emotion he has.

Don't panic. If you lose your nest egg, you can aways work as a barista for Starbucks in Warren.

Chump has it in for Sleepy Joe and governor Newscum, and a host of others. You’re right. Nobody should stoop that low.

I, on the other hand reserve the right to refer to him as Chump, as it is a perfectly apt homophone, and a synonym all in one.

Not to mention all the short sellers who have already profited from the market tanking in the first place.

Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country. JFK

That was because of a rumor that tariffs would be paused for 90 days but it turned out to be indeed a rumor so that cat was indeed dead.
