Congratulations to them. Of course, in the current political climate they will probably all be illegally fired.
Great. Those baristas work very hard sometimes multitasking by working the cash register then having to prepare the sandwiches at the same time. Short of staff and over worked
Solidarity forever!
Go over the the Commonwealth in Birmingham instead like I do.... hang-out with the "beautiful people" [[from Marylin Bender's 1967 book The Beautiful People).

People rich enough [or foolish enough] to pay $3 - $7 for coffee can now pay a little more.
I'm fine with that.
In the meantime, I'll brew 2 large mugs worth of much better coffee at home, WITH the fresh organic creamer of my choice for $1.20
Facts 100! I don't know HOW they hold those varied 'a splash' of this, a bit-of-that in memory long enough to create those varied coffees they custom make!

When I go out for coffee I go to Biggby or the Coffee Beanery, both Michigan based chains.
When I get coffee for home I get it from here, based in Royal Oak:

So your prefer to patronize local chains even though they pay less and don't offer health insurance? When I go out for coffee I go to Biggby or the Coffee Beanery, both Michigan based chains.

Now comes the hard part-- actually getting a contract. That has yet to happen at any Starbucks location.
Union is good. But I still really miss Caribou Coffee.![]()
Just do what California did and make the minimum wage $20.00 and employees won't have to worry about difficult contract negotiations. Detroiters won't mind paying a little more, those baristas work very hard. It's the Christian thing to do, right?

That monsignor Gumbleton guy could be Bernie Madoff’s twin, minus the circumcision.
Too bad Bigsby didn't survive in Detroit. The one on Woodward near Mack only lasted 2 years while the one on Livernois, the so called Avenue of Failure, only lasted a yearWhen I go out for coffee I go to Biggby or the Coffee Beanery, both Michigan based chains.

Right, gotta watch out for all the hi-los and other machines running up and down the aisles. And be careful on the high steel.
That's a job that could literally be done by Bots, no people needed. Load the beans, grind the beans, add the water, pour into cups, add a shot of cream.
Coffee vending machines were a thing decades ago.
Some places even have server bots that bring the overpriced brown creamy water and cold cuts on bread to the table.

Right, because, of course when all the bots take over and serve you coffee with charm and aplomb, the resultant price will be cheaper for you, and the cup; perfect. The only thing that doesn’t add up is I would rather get it straight up from a vending machine than an improvised nuts and bolts barista. The café business model is about making a big profit from a simple product, the premium may be contained in the idea of service and attention to quality, but it’s on the customer’s good will.
Obviously, folks are so focused on their laptops, smarties, that an extra machine interacting with them for their cuppa java won’t mean much. Lawl
Here. Let me fix that for ya.
