    Default The Olde Tap Room

Beer tasting party 1979, you buy the glass [[I still have mine) and try all the beers. Looks like the place is still open. I lived on Oldtown street then, between Harper and Chandler park drive. Happy memories of times gone by...

One of my various stops on the Eastside back around the same timeframe. A good neighborhood place with friendly staff and clientele. Variety was excellent.

It’s nice to think you could rate a juke box like that, when with a flick of the thumb you can get any old song on a smartphone. But I know, it ain’t the same.

The Tap Room has been around so long that it was one of my grandparents' favorite bars. I remember hanging out there, talking beers with Russ all night, and doing a couple of the tasting events that CTG remembers, back in my beer drinking days. Very nice that they're still around and kickin' over there on Charlevoix in my old stomping grounds.

I grew up on Alter near Charlevoix in the 50s and Phil's [[the old name the "Tap Room" back then was a favorite neighborhood bar of my parents and the neighbors [[who owned the trailer lot on the corner). It was a small place that the Tap Room expanded to include what was Carl's local market on the corner. My parents sometimes went to Vi & Earls [[the brick building on the adjacent corner) but thought it too upscale I think.
