They need more cats.
Does that "cq" stand for "certum est quod"?"Closed for Remodling" {cq},"
Wouldn't "sic" be more appropriate there?
Lafayette Coney Island voluntarily closes to address 'rat infestation issue'
I'm a Lafayette loyalist. Been going there all my life [[over 30 years). I'm not defending Lafayette. This is a real problem they need to get fixed, otherwise this restaurant will go under and it won't be the fault of the health department, which is doing its job.
But these are my thoughts: I'm willing to bet if rats were found in fancier restaurants that would be a shock. You'd never expect it. However, does anyone really believe that this still wasn't an issue after the first time they were hit for this? I'm not shocked they still have a rat problem. It's still not super sanitary there. It needs to be fixed, but no one can say they're surprised.
Oh Rats! This is second time in 2 years That Lafayette Coney Island a Rat Problem. And it may affect American Coney Island next door too.
Apparently it already has affected American judging by another video. I didn't feel comfortable posting it here because it was just too cringeworthy. I gathered that American didn't want to be associated with Lafayette in any way just because they're next door.![]()
Rats are like cockroaches, you could kill everyone in the place but if they are present within a 6 block radius they will be back in a matter of days no matter what you do.
Its going to take a combined effort of the city and all the surrounding properties.
watched an expose on rats in NYC restaurants,it did not matter how clean or how expensive, once the lights went out they came out, lots of them.
Sometimes I think they have little DeWalt rat size tools, because they can always find or chew a way in .

I quit eating coney dogs after learning the ingredients in 1966. Some cultures don't consider them to be an edible foodstuff. Before going clean, my favorite place was on Woodward just north of the City-County Building. IIRC the place was named Gus' Coney Island. There was a bus stop just outside its front door.

That's New York City Rats. They adapted to the fine concrete jungle.Rats are like cockroaches, you could kill everyone in the place but if they are present within a 6 block radius they will be back in a matter of days no matter what you do.

Remember the rat problem at Greektown about 25 years ago. Don't worry folks it's all clean up.
https://youtu.be/y0Eu1nfAyzc?si=4TnZNF8xQFxXuJnrGrace Keros, the owner of American Coney Island in Detroit, slammed neighboring Coney Island, Lafayette, after the restaurant was temporarily closed for rats. Keros said her restaurant is being impacted by Lafayette's issues.
A rat terrier is more effective than any cat. But an attorney is best of all.
The Project Gutenberg eBook of A Collection of Latin Maxims and Phrases, by John N. Cotterell
Rat stew is made by slow-cooking rat meat in a savory sauce made from a variety of spices and vegetables. The dish is a rich source of protein and is a popular dish among those who live in areas where rats are abundant.
I could help lower the food costs
IMO, two of the most overrated things in this world are Detroit coneys & Cincinnati Skyline chili.
who will be the pied piper? Hmm.
I knew a guy who worked at a restaurant downtown. Even though they kept the kitchen clean they eventually had a rat problem. They hired an exterminator and, as the kitchen was being taken apart for it's bi-weekly steam cleaning, they patched up any holes they found with metal rat fencing and plaster mixed with capsicum. Rat problem solved.
Another fun story - a newer building at Wayne State was closed a few years ago due to a rat infestation. Turns out the rat wall wasn't installed properly and they dug their way in. Still passed inspection, though!
I checked into a very nice hotel in downtown Washington many years ago. We opened the door to our room and a huge rat was just sitting there. As the front desk was swamped with people checking in, I tried to discretely get the attention of the guy to come to the side and speak with me. He told me he was very busy and just to tell him what was the big problem. I told him loud and clear that I wanted another room because I couldn't fight a rat that big. He quickly changed his tone.
Wow,I think it is strange that they have two competing restaurants next door to each other,in the old days you figure one or the other would have simply burned to the ground.
I was in Dayton a few years ago with a group that stopped for lunch at a Skyline. Tried one of their "cheese coney" dogs, wasn't about to mess with the "ways" spaghetti.
IMHO, Detroit has them beat, although the cheese might be a nice option. Detroit purists would condemn it, though.
Can one buy Detroit coney chili sauce in a can? Could be a good way to prepare at home with a Kowalski or Dearborn natural casing dog, mmmmm.
https://www.food.com/recipe/copycat-...t-style-535522 has a recipe for making one's own sauce, but ready in 4hrs 15mins? ain't nobody got time for that. Calls for beef heart as well.
