    https://www.freep.com/story/news/loc...g/75040424007/

“A 14-year-old boy was killed and another wounded in a shooting in a parking lot at the Michigan State Fair in Novi, officials say.

There was an "isolated incident" at the fair in Novi Saturday night that sent
two people to the hospital where one person died, Novi police said in a post on X.”

Again, I believe in 2nd amendment rights, but there are way too many guns out here getting in the wrong hands especially kids. It's ridiculous. Until this changes, this will be the norm.

It says that it was the result of an ongoing argument that was weeks in the making.

The shooting was just the end result, the intent to do somebody else harm would have had the same results gun or not.

Notice the pattern of when people attend a large gathering where others from other cities are in the same spot, like the block parties or other large events.

They made it clear it was not actually inside of the fair, our state fair used to have a students night on the first day of the season, the last few years it always becomes the same,it becomes the meeting place to settle scores and large fights break out.

By the time the gun is fired these “kids” have already made up their mind to do harm to somebody, even if you could remove all guns in society,it’s not going to change the core issues.

Four people were killed, including a 15-year-old girl who died saving her sister, after an Illinois man carried out a series of stabbings and attacks Wednesday in and near the city of Rockford, officials said.

Tsk, tsk. If only these shooters had learned more about firearm safety these shootings would never have happened.

    Wait. What?

It does not matter how anybody feels about an issue,to take office if president they swear an oath to defend and protect the constitution of the United States .

What is expected, throw out the constitution and have the military go door to door by force and removing all of the guns in society?

Get rid of guns and you will still have a crime problem. Get rid of criminals and you won't have a gun problem.

According to XYZ news! the 2 teens were shot were from Detroit just off from Uber Teen rideshare company. They have a beef with someone at the parking lot and the person pulls out a gun and shoot the teens killing one.

In some family and community events all over America there be some gun totting yahoo doing some and beatings and shootings. Having your kids going to events without adult supervision needs to enforced more.

Thats the elephant in the room nobody wants to address because it is easier to just say - it’s the guns.

Even in the 70s most school parking lots had trucks with gun racks in the back, with guns in them.

But in the long term - like 30-50-60 years from now,it’s not about the guns,it’s about using an ice pick on the constitution, most of us live year by year, there are others with agendas that stretch out many years past us as they seek their finial solution or end result goals.

They are looking for ways to pierce the veils of the constitution by setting precedent. No different than they are using the court system to create laws instead of actually following them.

At what point do people feel it is worth giving up all of their rights and exchange for what?

I grew up in Minneapolis, not exactly considered rural, but then again as a rule most city slickers are just as afraid of their own shadow,as they are with things they have little understanding about.

But then again you settled disputes with your fists, knives and chains, nobody really thought about shooting somebody, society has just raised a bunch of wussies who use a gun to settle disputes because their balls were removed at birth.

Nobody really taught them how to be a man of how to use their brains so they are not in that position in the first place.

But then again I have an customer who raised their kids under strict ways to be,even sent him to a good college, then he decided to randomly go out at night and randomly shoot people for no rhyme or reason.

Outside of the rest of the relatives are crazy nut jobs,it may be a genetic thing.

Maybe it because there is 100 million more people then in the 50s,so the amount of crazy people is the same, but there was crazy people back then also, they just used trees and ropes and bombs.

I hear they were under 15 arriving there from one of the rideshares Uber or Lyft. Umm, where were their parents? The story keeps changing.

Do you own research but Harris in the past made comments re. mandatory gun buy back policies [which will MOST certainly be adhered to by criminals].

But let us not go down that road lest this thread off-ramp to the corn-field.

The culture and what a society values.

That's the main thing that has changed.

As a society degrades and life is not valued and everyone is their own law....

    ....well.

Victim Darien Davis was a HS student in Ferndale, MI. Very tragic.

Can you allow your kids to go anywhere?

Here under 18 is not allowed into the fair unless accompanied by an adult.Because it’s the fair and not a little thug wanna be daycare event.

But this happened in the parking lot and not the actual fair as lead on to believe.

That like saying a shooting in Detroit, when it was in the suburbs.

But the crime problem will still exist. They'll just find another way to commit them.

As much as I hate to agree, I lived in Lapeer County in the 70's and my husband lived there in the 60's and 70's, and, yes, gun racks were in the trucks. Kids went hunting after school. Actually, they could take off school on Opening Day of Deer and Pheasant seasons.

I think that was true in Utica too. It wouldn't surprise me if that were true all over Michigan. It seemed a bit unfair to the other kids but I don't recall anyone complaining.

Of course hunting species other than your own is an entirely different subject. <frown>

It was true in Detroit as well. A few classmates of mine at DeLaSalle [[1968 - 1972) were out of school for hunting season. No gun racks, though.

Michigan has a strong hunting culture.
