Shoppers line up for Downtown Rihanna's Savage X Fenty store

Interesting addition to Downtown retail opens.

"Dozens of shoppers waited in line on a hot and humid Friday morning for the opportunity to be one of the first customers inside Rihanna's Savage X Fenty store in downtown Detroit.

"Inside, guests were greeted with a brightly lit space with mannequins reflecting a wide range of body types dressed in lingerie and loungewear. A DJ played as shoppers browsed through racks of clothes and shelves and displays advertising five pairs of panties for $30, lingerie, leggings and men's underwear, in sizes up to 4XL.

"The Savage X Fenty store, at 1442 Woodward Ave., was more than two years in the making, with the brand first announcing it would open a brickand- mortar store in Detroit in May 2022."

This store will give Woodward another needed shot in the arm especially for pedestrian traffic and to help bring attention to the independent owned surrounding retail and restaurants. I did notice some guys just sitting around in a railing a couple of doors down drinking and milling around. The type that hung around that liquor store that was on the block if Woodward 10 years ago. Gilbert will have to beef up his security for that and other stores in the area so that they won't fall victim to muddle of the night burglary and vandalism such as a couple of stores on Woodward had experienced
