NOW ITS BACK TO THE SAME OLE' LIONS!!!

    They were not giant killers!

    GIANTS 14
    LIONS 3

The prospect QB Sudfield kept to messing up!

    1 Yard Sack
    [[12:44) N.Sudfeld sacked at DET 12 for -1 yards [[D.Johnson).

    Then a fumble rooskie

    Fumble
[[1:13) [[Shotgun) N.Sudfeld pass short right intended for K.Davis INTERCEPTED by T.Herndon at NYG 8. T.Herndon to NYG 43 for 35 yards [[T.Kennedy). FUMBLES [[T.Kennedy), RECOVERED by DET-S.Vaki at NYG 46.

At least the defense did good.

Remember, the Lion's preseason record was 4-0 in the winless 2008 season. The preseason means nothing. Did any of the starters play a single down last night?

Sudfeld is not a prospect. He's a 30 year old with no upside, and is the third option that has to be present in case everything else gets completely f**ked. If he's on the roster come September 8th, it means something has gone terribly wrong. Which, unfortunately, does happen. Hooker is being groomed as the backup. He looked pretty decent in the short time he played.

Giants won both the fights, and the game. All jokes aside, it doesn't matter, they're looking for reserve players who can make the team. It's after one game, but WR Isaiah Williams looks like a keeper.

He is back in prospect list and he was not being patient of executing his plays.

A player does NOT go back to being a prospect! He's a 30 year old nobody who has played something like SIX games in his illustrious career.

And he is starting all over again to see if he make the team.

Does matter if you a pick in the draft and played before from another NFL team. Most football player must pass camp and preseason in order to make the team. You slip up, you may not be on the roster. However if that player has the best performance stats from the draft and recent NFL team, you you're already in the team.

    CLOSE CALL COMEBACK CATS!

Took care of the Taylor Swift's good luck team and scalp them

    LIONS 24
    CHIEFS 23

    1-1

The defense from out prospects were slow with K.C.'s 2 field goals. And then the fumble-ruskie! The KC made a quick TD.

    Fumble
    H.Butker kicks 63 yards from KC 35 to DET 2. J.Calhoun to DET 21 for 19 yards [[Ca.Jones). FUMBLES [[Ca.Jones), RECOVERED by KC-C.Steele at DET 25.

    The Defense warmed up!

    Interception
[[3:55) N.Sudfeld pass deep left intended for D.Peoples-Jones INTERCEPTED by K.Taylor at DET 46. K.Taylor to DET 46 for no gain [[D.Peoples-Jones).

The Offense pumped up later with more Field goals.

    Then comes the KC fumble-rookie

    Fumble
[[2:19) [[Shotgun) H.Hooker FUMBLES [[Aborted) at KC 8, RECOVERED by KC-T.Jones at KC 6

Here comes the game winning comeback!

    Field Goal
    [[:02) J.Bates 43 yard field goal is GOOD, Center-S.Daly, Holder-J.Fox.

    Keep them hyped up Campbell.

IMHO Lions' reserves look better than some other teams' starters. The opposite was true in years past, e.g., the era of QuinTricia.

I was looking back on some old threads from the days when we had our own SPORTS tab.

Impassioned. Is a way to frame the threads from those halcyon days.

One tradition we had was making your best guess as to the Lions record. It would be nice to bring that back.

also, Smogboy made for a great Commissioner by keeping the discussion focused.

    Smogboy, you still around?

I know less about football than baseball and basketball but I'll take the 1st stab at it. 12-6. They are capable of more but I think the tougher schedule and improvement by other division rivals like the Bears will make it tough.
P.S. had to edit my post and give them another win when I remembered it's 18 games.

401Don, I’m afraid the lions only have 17 games scattered over 18 weeks. Then maybe the playoffs for addition viewing pleasure.

However, I salute your optimism and dedication.

Told you I followed football less! For some reason I thought they went to 2 pre-season games this year. Maybe they're just talking about it for next season. 11-6 it is, which is not very optimistic.

14 of those 17 games are in a domed stadium. I'll take 13-4. However, the lack of depth at wide receiver is a concern for me.

I'll see you and raise you one. 14-3. This team has depth and attitude. Only a lot of injuries can upend them.

    WELL DONE COOL CATZ!

    They bend those Steelers.

    LIONS 24
    STEELERS 17

    Hooker experienced a QB sack.

    Sack
[[10:27) [[Shotgun) H.Hooker sacked at DET 37 for -7 yards [[sack split by K.Benton and D.Leal).

Oops! defense make an early fumble-rooskie.

    Fumble
[[9:48) [[Shotgun) H.Hooker sacked at DET 30 for -7 yards [[Ni.Herbig). FUMBLES [[Ni.Herbig), touched at DET 32, RECOVERED by PIT-D.Lowry at DET 35.

After lots of punt kicks Hooker made his first TD.

Scoring Play: [[Shotgun) H.Hooker pass short right to J.Funk for 2 yards, TOUCHDOWN.

The Defense pump up with their fumble-rookie

    Fumble
    [[2:00) [[Shotgun) K.Allen sacked at PIT 34 for -8 yards [[I.Ukwu). FUMBLES [[I.Ukwu), RECOVERED by DET-C.Smith at PIT 33.

And the offense catch up with the TD to close the game.

    Touchdown Lions
[[:28) [[Shotgun) J.Jefferson right tackle for 1 yard, TOUCHDOWN.

Alright Campbell who will you pick for your ALL IN LIONS! for the season?

Looked like close to a sell-out. Amazed how many people will pay to sit inside on a summer day and watch a meaningless game. I might go if it was free, outside and there were a few key rookies I wanted to see but otherwise no chance.

    D. Peoples-Jones? Where are you going?
    Maybe to the practice squad?
You want him to do well, but he never gets open or catches the ball.

It makes me nervous to see Hooker running so often. Running QBs have short careers.

Yeah but it looks like his ceiling is as a back-up. Guys who have trouble with their reads but can scramble and get yards out of broken plays need to use those talents.

I'll tell ya what. If Goff goes down, I think the Lions would roll on with hardly missing a beat with Hooker. He looks terrific and, unlike Goff, can run. He just needs to learn to slide sooner.
