Hmm, he starts to talk about the 'border crisis' [finally conceded a crisis only 10 months or so ago] at about 13:00 in.

Says it 'pisses' him off. Well ok - glad he got the memo! But as he's standing there, I don't think he gets the bigger significance of the problem and how it will CONTINUE TO IMPACT 'workers', and others incomes, retirements, state and city infrastructures, access to health services, etc!

Especially for many black Detroiters - who've noticed.

    And already pissed.

Off topic and I do not know if you got the same commercial at the start, but I wonder if the narrator for that add is AI generated? It’s the same voice that covers Ukraine videos and lots of FB and YT videos.

More on topic, politics,it seems like every 4 years it is a fluffers convention and to see who can take the prize.

To paraphrase Shakespeare: As flies to wanton boys are nations to capitalists, they kill cities for their sport.

Compensation in Mexico is a fraction of what U.S. employees receive, a reflection of a lack of independent unions and government policies said Harley Shaiken, a University of California-Berkeley professor who specializes in labor and the global economy.

"Mexico, he noted, continues to draw billions of dollars in investments, including for electric vehicles. Now, Chinese companies like BYD Co. Ltd. are looking at producing vehicles there as well, augmenting fears of low-cost EVs entering the U.S. market from new competitors."

The "USMCA is not in any way effectively addressing this situation..."

Auto Workers in Mexico are unionized no different then here, heck in 2022 they demanded and received a wage increase from $3 per hour to $3.25.

But it is considered a no skills job, construction, health care and IT are the highest paying jobs in Mexico.

Well that and drugs, but that occupation seems to be short lived for most.

We did not want that dirty manufacturing in this country anymore,so it was worth sacrificing the cities and the people in order to get rid of it,so people need to quit their whining,we got what we wanted, what did people think would happen?

    Agreed.

As flies to wanton boys are workers to capitalists, they kill nations for their sport. And there are those who get their rocks off watching it.

Here's what you Florida hillbilly crack heads need to keep your butts above sea level. But doing so would require intelligence, social cooperation, and long-term planning:

I did not watch the video yet but you do realize that Florida is populated by people fleeing Michigan and the north.

So how did that intelligence, social cooperation, and long term planning work out for you ?

In case you have not noticed your progressive socialist movements rein of terror is quickly running out of steam, even your local representative that you pinned your hopes and dreams on has literally been told to shut up and sit down.

So sad that your representatives that should be helping you build a better city for everybody is duct taped.

Even your hero Fain, what exactly did he win for the labor party ? 2500 more jobs lost.

One would figure sooner or later you would wake up to the reality and figure which Detroit was better, the one under capitalism or the current one that supports progressive socialism, usually when one is bleeding they put a bandaid on instead of opening the wound even larger and expecting different results.

Do you honestly believe that during those last negotiations that Fain did not know what was coming up ?

That was his trade off ,sacrifice 2500 jobs in exchange for a pay raise for the rest.

That’s why he doubled down on the south,he already wrote off Detroit.

One can say that when you look at the workers perspective,it was zero sum game.

They are not going to stop building the trucks, they are building them in Mexico, they are just stopping building them in Michigan.

At least the 4000 workers building them in Mexico are happy they have a job.

Thats not 2500 jobs lost in Michigan, that’s 4000.

This was written by an auto blogger in Michigan as they were celebrating the 5,000,000 truck to roll out the door at the Mexico plant in September of 2023.

TheThe Saltillo Truck Assembly Plant has been a cornerstone of Ram truck production, and this milestone underscores the plant’s ongoing success in delivering top-quality trucks to customers worldwide. Michigan doesn't have intelligence, social cooperation, or long-term planning. We have capitalism and potentially the world's biggest bong, but our butts remain above sea level.

I'm just saying that Floridians ought to start building dikes and drainage infrastructure. We don't want you back here.

But seriously, please watch the video. It's hard not to be impressed by those democratic socialist Lowlanders.

Florida flooding aside, that was one of the most informative videos I've ever seen about The Netherlands. It's as if they told AI to make a video and forgot to tell it when it was good enough to stop.

    I learned a lot. Thanks.

Yes we want to maintain our three-decade-long population stagnation and continue our drift into irrelevancy [[except for in presidential elections until we've bled enough electoral votes due to said population stagnation that our divided state even stops mattering in that).

My wife and I visited the Netherlands last year. Part of the tour was the Delta Works in the South and Rotterdam. Truly impressive, not only as an engineering marvel, but the determination and planning behind it - starting in 1954 and lasting the next few decades. There are similar projects like it all over the Netherlands. It is a very organized country with high taxes and lots of government benefits, but it is also wealthy with a strong work ethic and pride among its population. I do not believe its is model for us because the country is much smaller than ours with a less diverse population, but noteworthy nonetheless.
