Default Old WPA era Railroad bridge on Brush

What we called a “sardine can” peel back in my truck driving days. From an hour ago.

Too bad to see Forgotten Harvest, a charity truck get hit.

The road was recently paved. I wonder if that changed the height, but the signage was not updated.

Thanks Lowell... I had this morbid thought of an open top English double decker bus going under the overpass... and pft... pft... pft... pft... pft... all the heads a rolling...

Thanks for the message, Lowell. I spent the summers of my college
years driving a truck. I got a lot of instruction about slowing up when
    you saw a bridge ahead.

    Indeed.

This bridge on West Grand Blvd. [click here to see on Google Street View] was the most notorious. As can be seen, it is battered on both sides. Its arch had to create a deception. I know at least one of our drivers who got peeled there. That said, I love the aesthetics of the bridge and that graceful arch.

I've seen them stuck on both ends of the overpass on Maple Rd and Eton St in Birmingham.

I was riding shotgun when the truck I was in hit that Piquette bridge.

We had just dropped off some carbon arcs and an ancient Vinton dolly at Jack Frost and were finished for the day.

    A short day turned long.

It amazes me the signage on these bridges tells you the height, but people try to go under it anyways. Very perplexing.

Similar to how people get stuck in flooded roadways despite being able to see the flood ahead — difference being that the low bridges have warning signage but there is no signage indicating flood depth.

Hmm. <dream mode on> Would depth gauge signage in flood areas be worthwhile? Floating snorkels on cars? <dream mode off>
