It's not something you would say out loud. You would do it by your actions of trading at least two of the three vets and you would quietly explain the logic to young leaders like Cunningham and Ivey and possibly to the whole team. You would say in the press conference you think they can still win and even make the playoffs this year, knowing you're thrilled to have acquired another no. 1 pick and hoping for enough losses to sneak into the lottery.
Again, they may decide it's more important to experience winning, not trade the vets and just take on a bad salary to get another pick.

By the way, despite the progress this year the fans sure aren't buying in. Attendance is terrible. It looks even worse on tv because with no season ticket base the expensive lower sides are empty most games. Looks to be about 5-6,000 in the arena [[and please don't quote the silly announced crowds).

Almost all re-sign with their own team on max deals except the few that go to play wit their pals. Apparently, this year is a very deep draft with 5-6 players who would be top 1-2 the last few years. Figures, when the Pistons likely won't have a lottery pick. I'm torn between holding on to Beasley & Hardaway at the deadline and going for the meaningless last playoff spot or trading them and maybe getting into the lottery one more time. Pistons are also the only team with cap space in the entire league so they could possibly take on a bad contract at the deadline to get another 1st round pick.
It is a good analysis, but there is one correction. The Brooklyn Nets will have more cap space than any team next season which is projected to be around 65 Million after the trades recently of Dennis Schroder and Dorian-Finney-Smith. I expect them to make more moves [[Ben Simmons, Cam Johnson) since they are in full rebuild mode.

I was referring to remaining space at the deadline this season.

A gruesome season ending injury to Ivey last night. Broken fibula. He was really coming on, especially finding the 3 point shot. So much for a promising season for the Pistons. Assuming the losses start piling up this would be a good reason to tank at the deadline

Pistons on a nice roll. Won 6 out of the last 7. Turned back the T-Wolves, 119-105 despite a career high 53 pts from Anthony Edwards. Cade Cunningham had a season high 40 pts, Beasley chipped in 23 pts off the bench. Detroit is 17-18, one game under .500 Now we just need the Lions to knock off the Vikings to go 2-0 vs the great state of Minnesota.

A broken bone looks more gruesome, but a clean break can heal quickly and completely. It's usually easier to heal from a broken bone than it is a ligament or tendon, which take longer and are rarely ever 100% the same.

Yes, it now looks like he could be back around the end of February to early March. Pistons are playing well but the last couple wins have been against really injury depleted teams. Need to continue to take advantage of this part of the schedule.

“Don’t look now,” as George Blaha would say, but the Pistons are at .500 after tonight’s win vs. Portland.

Really good win in NY last night. Cade was amazing in the 2nd half. Going to the game Thursday. I hope some fans start showing up. They deserve better support than they've been getting. With no season ticket base, it's embarrassing how empty the prime sideline seats are. That said, I saved 60 bucks by sitting just across the aisle from the baseline.

They've been mired in mediocrity for over fifteen years. It'll take some time to rebuild the fan base, but if the team shows that they're for real, fans will come around.

Best player fully healthy. Coach that wants to be here. GM that does more than throw a bunch of parts and pieces together, hoping for the best. All good things.

Went to last night's game. Pistons just couldn't get untracked. Cade has a bad habit of making soft passes that get picked off. Don't get me wrong. I'm thrilled with how he's playing and it's tough when they double team him so much now and the ball is in his hands all the time. Crowd was pretty big last night. I was surprised how many people were in the upper deck.

I saw on TV that a bigger crowd was expected for today's mid-afternoon tilt vs the Suns. It's also been speculated that the game was moved up to not interfere with the Lions game and to accommodate KD and Devin Booker to attend the game later that evening. This is unconfirmed. Booker was born and raised in Grand Rapids, and supports the area's sports teams.

Could it be so that the Ilitch parking empire can sell its spaces twice? Nah. What was I thinking?
