Last night's loss means it's the Knicks next weekend, a series that will put the Pistons in the national spotlight. Pistons can win if the refs let them play tough, physical defense the same way they beat them on Wednesday.
Between the Pistons' return to the playoffs and the success of the Lions and the Tigers, Detroit is about to become a great sports city again. A shame about the way the Red Wings have been though.
That falls in the lap of Stevie Y. He's done a piss- poor job of rebuilding the Wings since he took over.
I don't follow the Wings as closely but the lottery luck hasn't helped. A couple of top scorers make a huge difference in the NHL. Have any other teams been successful without a top 1-3 pick?
Everything was on cruise control--until the Knicks went on a 22-0 run.
When the Pistons get careless with the ball, it ultimately leads to a bad outcome. That run was orchestrated by bad shots and consecutive turnovers on multiple possessions. You won't beat many teams, even bad ones, giving the ball up 20 times. And now Isaiah Stewart is listed as questionable for Monday night's game with right knee soreness. Cade being guarded by OG Anunoby [[who has size, strength, and is a good defender) is also a challenge for them, as well as NY playing two bigs in Towns and Robinson.

They do appear to panic sometimes when the other team starts a run. Part of the problem is they want to quickly get out and run the fast break to get back into it but that often leads to more turnovers. When the Pistons get careless with the ball, it ultimately leads to a bad outcome. Another milestone for the resurgent Pistons has been reached: winning their first playoff game in seventeen years. This one displayed one of their quiet assets: the contributions of their bench players.
It’s advantage Pistons as they come home to continue the series.
Nobody beats the Pistons in the playoffs 16 times in a row!
After being robbed of a win with an outrageous no-call in game 4, that even the league admits was wrong, the Pistons showed a lot of grit last night to win one of the most physical game I've ever seen and force the series to continue back here.
It's still a big uphill battle against a very good team and the odds are difficult, but I think everyone can be proud of this team no matter what happens.
Agreed. These playoffs remind me of the 80's and 90's. The league was determined to clean up the physicality [[mainly the Detroit Pistons) and now, all the playoff series [[Hou/GS, Ind/Mil, LAC/Den and Det/NY) has had some type of skrimishes and dust-ups. I know the playoffs are more physical, but the refs have let them play, with very few fouls being called. After being robbed of a win with an outrageous no-call in game 4, that even the league admits was wrong, the Pistons showed a lot of grit last night to win one of the most physical game I've ever seen and force the series to continue back here.
