Default Stellantis blames Canadian government for jeopardizing battery plant

Will the Canadian government follow through and make this deal happen or will they walk away? With billions promised to VW to build a plant in London, the $5-billion Windsor plant could be in jeopardy. Stellantis confirms construction has stopped at Windsor battery plant site | CTV News

Cited in today's Detroit Free Press. It appears to be case of Stellantis saying, "Wah, we want what VW got." Government position unclear.

If that's the case Stellantis should stick with what was negotiated but the reality is they know they can go back to the bargaining table at this late date and the Canadian gov't will cave with more money. Either way the fact that the Canadian gov't is giving VW 13 billion in subsidies is obscene. Of course they're arguing that the U.S. brought all this on with the Inflation Reduction Act, a strange name for what it actually is.

If they named it for what it really is, they couldn't sell it to the masses. Didn't Kilpatrick get locked up for pay to play scams?

The Stellantis battery plant is all but dead according to Toronto Sun. Federal government pulled out and left Ontario holding bag. I bet if Stellantis was building a battery plant in Quebec, Trudeau wouldn't have dared to pull out and leave Quebec holding bag.
