Default Identify this factory near Belle Isle?

Can anyone tell me the name of the large factory in this picture, the one with the two smoke-stacks?

Is it still in use, or abandoned?

I thought it might be part of the old Boblo site, but maybe not?

    Thanks in advance.

From the window of my hotel room in the Greektown Casino, with a long lens... I'm in Australia, but I visit Detroit from time to time.

I'm from a media background, but at present I'm in the process of building my own website, although it will take a long time to 'populate' the website with my archive of material... https://www.wallace-media.net/archive

This is closer to Delray. I can't get an angle on the picture you took to know which way it's facing

If you think it's where Bob Lo docks used to be, then it's down river and not near Belle Isle; the plant I mentioned above could be it. If you are sure you are looking toward Belle Isle you might be getting a shot from Windsor. If so it's Capitol Power in Windsor near WalkervilleName: windsor power plant.jpg

That's where the remaining Bob-Lo boat is parked going through restoration. That stacks are from Connor Creek and it is no longer there.

I took the pic in July 2019... is the building with the stacks no longer there? Thanks again.

For all old time Eastsiders... that is the former remains of the locally famous "7 sisters and 2 brothers"... the legendary Edison power plants on the lower east side near Conner below Jefferson. They tore down the "7 sisters" over 25 years ago, and the "2 brothers" came down more recently...

Decommissioned in 2008 and demolished December 13, 2019.

Had I known it was an old picture, I wouldn't have spent an hour google mapping....
I thought it was the Two Brothers, but knew they were torn down in 2019

Below is a link to a brief description of the Mistersky Power Plant
    http://www.detroit1701.org/Mistersky...n%20Plant.html

In the 1890s, Mayor Pingree favored municipal ownership of the city's
utilities. I believe this plant was active until the Young administration but
I have found a detailed history of this electric power generation facility.

Had an apartment at Alden Park Towers in the mid-80s. On a couple of occasions, I found a thin layer of soot on my car in the morning. One of my neighbors said it was Edison "blowing out" the furnaces overnight at Connor Creek. I never confirmed that, but it made sense knowing that it was a coal-burning plant.

This photo is indeed from the Greektown Casino looking East towards Belle Isle. The factory is NOT the Mistersky Power Plant as mentioned earlier. It's actually the old Connor Creek Power Plant - demolished in Dec 2019.

Does this mean that the two smoke-stacks were removed, or the entire building was demolished?

The entire complex is gone. The 7 stacks [7 sisters] was demoed in 1996, and the remaining separate building with 2 stacks [2 brothers] was demoed in 2019.

You didn't think 'demolished' meant demolished?

I grew up in that Indian Village area and there was often soot on our cars in the morning. In those days a lot of it was from the Uniroyal plant on Jefferson next to the Belle Isle Bridge, but depending on which way the wind was blowing it could also come from that Edison power plant. My grandparents and other relatives lived in the Jefferson-Chalmers area south of Jefferson and they would have to wash their cars and the windows in their houses often because of the soot.
