Dearborn orders 'dangerous' office tower demolished

Mayor Abdullah Hammoud said Thursday in a Facebook post that the 12-story Village Plaza office tower along Michigan Avenue is to be demolished due to dangerous conditions.Hammoud wrote that there have been "several failed attempts to rehabilitate the property and address the notices of violation."
"This blighted property has negatively impacted the surrounding neighborhoods and our downtown for too many years," Hammoud said.

It needs to come down. Abestos & black mold is in it. Too bad it couldn't be redeveloped.

^^^ Well, you can't use normal demolition methods with that stuff in it, so since it has to come out before demolition, is what would be left structurally un-sound?

It’s not a demolition order or the city ordering them to demolish it,the city recommends demolition and the owner can appeal, but cannot occupy it in the meantime.

The black mold scare continues, there are multiple different types of black mold, the deadly one is extremely rare to find,so just because one sees black mould it does not mean it is any more dangerous then any other mold.

Orville Hubbard would have it down tomorrow. Whatever happened to him, anyway?
