Default Motown legendary songwriter Lamont Dozier passes away at 81.

    Detroit Free Press: Brian McCollum

“The Detroit native, part of the Holland-Dozier-Holland powerhouse music team, passed “peacefully” Monday. Alongside brothers Eddie and Brian Holland, Lamont they achieved an extraordinary success streak that regularly took the Supremes, Four Tops, Martha Reeves, Marvin Gaye and others to the upper reaches of the charts.”

“I don’t read music, and I can’t write it either. I did it all by ear and feeling when I sat down at the piano. I thank God for the chords and melodies and everything I put into it.”

Love his music and writing. Some of the best songs of that period - onward!
