Not being re-elected is the greatest fear of labor officials because they hate the thought of going back to blue-collar work on the factory floor. So, they don't scruple to rig the elections. And to steal enough money to retire on.

In case you don't have a subscription:

The U.S. Bureau of Prisons has discretion to release some people early under a 2018 law. Separately, Jones and Williams would have trimmed their sentences with good behavior.

“Gary Jones was treated the same way as any other federal inmate who met the requirements for release to home confinement under the First Step Act,” Jones attorney Bruce Maffeo said. “BOP made its decision based on a number of factors, including Jones’ age, general health, lack of any prior criminal record and his good behavior while incarcerated.”
What is the First Step Act of 2018?

The First Step Act, formally known as the Formerly Incarcerated Reenter Society Transformed Safely Transitioning Every Person Act, is a bipartisan criminal justice bill passed by the 115th Congress and signed by President Donald Trump in December 2018.

The reduced sentences were for federal prisoners left out of the 2010 Fair Sentencing Act [[FSA). The FSA was not applied retroactively, but the First Step Act explicitly extended its provisions to pre-2010 sentences. The USSC said 25 percent of those sentence reductions were granted to prisoners whose cases originated in three states: Florida, South Carolina and Virginia. Over 91 percent were African Americans, and most were male. One of the goals of the FSA was to correct racial disparities in sentencing by eliminating harsher penalties for crack cocaine than for powder cocaine. The mean sentence reduction was about 30 percent, taking off nearly six years.

As much as this case sucks, the first step act has released a lot of people that were serving insane sentences for small amounts of weed etc.

This wasn't about weed. This is about large sums of money they pilfered from the union they were voted in to lead. I bet they get to keep what they stole too. Ain't America grand?

It was about sentencing guidelines,if I remember correctly that was a liberal thing and justice reform.

Over 7500 were released under the new guidelines, which in the link I posted were not actually new, just expanded, unfortunately you cannot pick and choose and some will fall through the cracks.

You advocate for social justice reform then get mad because you want to have a personal say in who gets released under it.

America is grand, power and greed was not invented in America it was here long before us and will be here long after we are gone.

The UAW has been corrupt sense day one, ever think that is the reason the party of the people claim them as a best friend?

How many millions in taxpayer dollars have been spent on rooting out corruption in the UAW over the decades, maybe it is time for them to start cleaning their own house?

They have not had an issue doing it themselves in the past,as was already posted, just ask Jimmy.

Why has the union always been target rich for corruption, maybe it is because it is the culture and a way of life within?

They claim to be representatives for the people, the very same people they turn around and steal from, and as we see from the other thread they do not do a good job protecting the jobs for the ones they represent.

All they have become is a form of Labor Ready, where you pay them for the privilege of getting a job,no guarantee that you will have it from one day to the next.

And they still throw their support the party that is doing everything possible in order to destroy them.
