    History of Edison Motion Pictures
Edison's laboratory was responsible for the invention of the Kinetograph {a motion picture camera} and the Kinetoscope {a peep-hole motion picture viewer}. Most of this work was performed by Edison's assistant, William Kennedy Laurie Dickson, beginning in 1888.
So, no. No video existed before 1888.

But you knew that, didn't you?

    Grow up.

Old Honky Tonk seems to go off the rails whenever his Blood Pressure meds run out... But his level of maturity is never too high to make fun of people's ethnicity or family.

Within the quote in the first post above there is a link to Michigan Day by Day. It's worth bookmarking. From its "About" page:

A Michigan history blog pulling together anecdotes about Michigan-related events and stories arranged by date, compiled by Jon Harrison, a retired librarian who used to work for the Michigan State University Libraries....
There appear to be some useful links there but some of them don't work for me. YMMV

Jcole... yeah I saw that on Youtube, had never seen anything like that, and thought it would be funny to post on DYES. But dayyum... he got downright nasty... He goes off in an almost apoplectic rage like that without warning from time to time... I try to ignore him when I can.

Maybe Hippos were the inspiration for the term "when the shit hits the fan"...
