Default The June Teenth holiday and the commemoration of the death of Vincent Chin

This week end not only includes the June Teenth holiday commemorating the end of slavery in this nation but it marks the 40th anniversary of the killing of Vincent Chin in Woodward
    in Highland Park.

There is a very complete and detailed account of the killing of
Vincent Chin and how it led to an Asian American civil rights
movement in the book: From a Whisper to a Rally Cry: The
Killing of Vincent Chin and the Trail that Galvanized the Asian American Movement by Paula Yoo [[New York: W. W. Norton, 2021).

A great deal of information is provided about the very strong
anti-Asian feelings of that era and the willingness of our
elected representative to use very derogatory terms when
speaking about Asians. There is also a discusion of how
those who caused the death of Vincent Chin were not
sent to jail and paid only a modest fine.

Four decades after Vincent Chin's death, it is discouraging to read about the recent sharp increase in the number of attacks upon the nation's current Asian population,

I first thought it was referring to the other Vincent Chin.

    Hungry? Eat your rice burner.

I can see how there would have been a hatred towards Asians at the time in the automotive sector.

But not understanding the sharp increase in violence against Asians, even more so coming out of the west coast where they have been a part of the community sense the dawn of the railroads.

There and in NYC it has been a majority of African Americans perpetuating the violence, not sure is that is because of soft targets or or just a increase in violence as a whole and they are not just targeting Asians, but can group them.

Juneteenth does not mark the end of slavery as numerous American Indian tribes still enslaved blacks many years after the end of the Civil War.

There's also not a "sharp increase" in violent attacks against Asian Americans. According to FBI crime stats, there were more victims of violent crime from 2019 to 2020 across all demographics. The smallest victim increase was among the Asian American demographic. Asian Americans are the least likely of any demographic group to be victimized in the US. The "Stop Asian Hate" movement was a just another leftoid meme with no basis in reality used to drain emotional and financial resources from white libs.
