Any chance the Book Tower will be open for a pre-opening peek when the restoration is complete? I'll take the day off work to see that!

Is Preservation Detroit associated with the Indian Village tours?

Happy to share info on the tours you mentioned, although neither is affiliated with Preservation Detroit.

AIA Detroit is hosting the Book Tower Tours this Thursday, April 28. But both tours are sold out. For info and contact email: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-boo...s-300127277767

The Indian Village Home and Garden tours are run by the Historic Indian Village Association. Unfortunately they announced on Facebook earlier this month that there will be no 2022 Home and Garden Tour.

Kathleen... I hope the annual Theatre Tours are coming back.

The Fillmore/State was unavailable in 2019, and no tours in 2020 & 2021 due to Covid. The Fillmore/State underwent a total auditorium restoration in late 2018, and now the entire theatre is totally restored. But we were never able to show it off since the [Live Nations paid for] restoration. It is still owned by the Forbes family.

Looking forward to showing it off for the first time, in its' total glory....

Kathleen, do you know why the Theatre Tours were cancelled? I've been dying to show the gloriously restored Fillmore/State. It was finished in late 2018, but it got skipped for the 2019 tours, and there haven't been any since 2020.

COVID pure and simple. Many aspects of the planning process were affected. Maybe the Theatre Tour can come back in 2023.

Thanks Kathleen... I was wondering, because I am going to a concert at the Fox in September [[including an after concert back stage Meet & Greet)... and wasn't sure if it was delayed until next year due to Covid.

But the concert performers [[not the Fox) are demanding that everyone either have their vaccination card, or recent Covid test.

While it's true that some of the venues are now operational, much was shut down or operating on a limited basis during the first part of the year due to the Omicron surge, when it would have been imperative to begin planning for the Theatre Tour.

And, yes, as I understand it, some of the venues are actually being rented out for some of the shows rather than the venue booking a show, so the shows may request COVID protocols or not, and they may bring or contract for staff.

^Yes Kathleen, the show I am going to see had their March/April USA tour cancelled due to Omicron. Good thing for me... Detroit is their first USA stop for their Sept/Oct rescheduled North American tour.
