Default Michigan Company Wants to Drill for Oil under Lake St. Clair

No there won't be oil rigs in Lake St. Clair but Schmude Oil Inc. of Traverse City wants to use offshore directional drilling to tap indicated oil and gas reserves under Metro Detroit's biggest drinking water supply. This follows a recent "dry hole" exploration in northern Macomb County.

A horrible ideal for our ecosystem to drill for oil under our Great Lakes where we bathe, use for drinking water for all of God's precious creatures. It will be a disaster.

Remember the Deep Horizon Great Old Spill.

I will say OH HELL NO! And protest.

They want to drill in St Clair County and within the city of St Clair, not under Lake St Clair.

Philosopher and animal rights activist Steven Best argues that three decades of neoliberal policies have "marketized the entire world" and intensified "the assault on every ecosystem on the earth as a whole". Neoliberalism reduces the "tragedy of the commons" to an argument for private ownership. The Friedman doctrine may lead companies and governments to neglect concerns for the environment. The assumption that markets will allow for the maximization of individual freedom is incorrect -- it's just the opposite.

We may be forced to go to Flint for a glass of water or shower.
