I have been doing some urban studies about the fast growing Yemeni-East Indian, Shri Lankans, And Bengali population in Hamtramck and how it grew as the first Muslim dominate city in the United States.

    1. Since the late 1980s GM is looking forward to hire more workers to fill up their Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Plant. So they sent their agents to New York City at the Astoria-Jackson Heights Area and other parts of Brooklyn's Bay Ridge Area ask them and their families to come to Detroit-Hamtramck Area to work in their factories. Thousands of Arabs and ethnic East Indians descents did. Some Yemenis settled in Dwyer St. between Mt. Elliott St. and Conant St. at the Detroit-Hamtramck border and "Little Yemen" was born. The ethnic East Indians settle at Conant St. and Carpenter Rd. at Detroit-Hamtramck border and "Banglatown" was born.

    2. Through the 1990s as more Yemenis and Bengalis families came, they communities quickly grew along Hamtramck and Detroit borders and their families have enough money to bring their families. They build businesses, brought homes even on once almost blighted areas in Southern part of Hamtramck and northern Parts of Detroit's Northeast side. And save what's left Northeast Central Wayne County for ruin that can rival Highland Park.

    3. The fast growth of Muslims in Hamtramck and parts of NE Detroit borders cause lots of ethnic Poles and Germans and fewer Black folks to leave their areas. Hamtramck got a all Muslim City Council and a It's first Muslim appointed Mayor. of course they are still a handful of whites and black folks in their Hamtramck, but they are destined to leave in droves, but plan to stay and create diversity.

So you all can call that city "Hamtramckstan" all you want. Ethnic Muslims are here to stay until another opportunity comes in for them. So let's what the future holds for that tiny little city of wood frame neighborhoods.

Very huge congrats to Mayor Duggan on his 3rd term and now became the second longest mayor in Detroit's history next to 5th term legend himself, the late mayor Coleman Young. Also congrats to the Detroit City Council members [[old and new faces) and let pray that we don't have no more scandals/corruptions since that's the biggest cancer when it comes down to council members throughout the past years. Also having CAY Jr. as council at large is gonna be interesting. I also wanna point out that the two biggest sore losers in this election are Anthony Adams and Nicole Smalls. Adams' interview of his defeat from last night he kept saying the same thing over and over and still crying about a debate. Also there are red flags throughout his campaign from throwing lawsuits, kicking Duggan off the primary ballot, going to the mayor's mansion like a mob boss and he was missing filing mayoral deadlines because he's too busy attacking Duggan. People wanna say that Duggan was afraid to debate Adams, but the REAL truth is that Duggan win huge in a primary[[71% to Adams' 10%), that's no contest and he knew what Adams is doing. And as for Nicole Smalls, who was running council at large,....boy.... this woman has a very nasty attitude problem from city charter commission when she attack another member which it was caught on tape to her "Nicole Small Show" a.k.a. "I Hate Mike Duggan Show" facebook live where she always nasty rants and racial comments and she still crying about Proposal P. Her attitude is not gonna get her nowhere.

Duggan don't a debate until his candidate is gaining popularity. Anthony Adams is just plan Kwame's Party Puppet. He should not run when he carries Kwame's shadow in his back. Adams is already finish with his political career.

Duggan does just like any other mayor suppose to do. Keep your people happy and give them hope. Even through this city went through a 100 years of urban depression and racial battles, its up to the People of Detroit along its suburbs to come together for regional peace and prosperity for the 21st Century and beyond.

Even if he did nothing else for the rest of the new term,he has already done what has not been done in the city for the last 30 years, along with the residents, which was placing the city in a financial situation where it dictates the interests for borrowing money instead of the rates being dictated to the city by the lenders.

That translates into millions per year that can now be invested back into the city and not having to increase taxes for the next 20 years or the terms of each bond sale.

His job is to instill hope in the city but just as important, instill hope in the financial community.

But it also sends a message country wide that the residents are not standing for the mistakes of the past,I kinda think that is where the real Detroit spirit resides, there are always obstacles and the residents keep showing that no matter what or how bad they are or were, they have the fortitude to keep pressing on.

At the end of the day, results count everything else is window dressing and this country would be a lot better off if more people followed the example set and hold those that they entrust to a higher standard,no need to settle for less.

Good job Detroiters,as you have scratched and dug your way up out of that hole, you are an inspiration to the rest of the country and an example of what Americans can achieve when they set their minds to something.

    Well done.

Well in all honesty, it’s probably appropriate, Hamtramck had Polish representatives when it was majority Polish and the Polish people voted for a Polish person. It’s pretty simple, it’s no different now that the population has changed. People, no matter what their ethnic background is, when they become the majority , tend to vote for their own. The same goes for white people. They do it today in most white majority communities. No surprise here. Detroit oddly enough is an exception here, when they elected Duggan, basically because the people were just fed up with the candidates prior to him, and saw a candidate who could actually do something, for that reason I give the people of Detroit a lot of credit , looking at qualifications over race or ethnicity.

^ it is happening all over the country, which I think is pretty cool, you cannot expect more if you do not demand more, people are waking up to the fact of following the status quo is what keeps you trapped.

Politicians like to use narratives in order to keep people trapped and I am glad people are seeing through it.

^ It's wild time election wise across the country! As the far left [assuming a tight grip] go more extreme, the middle [where most people reside despite the media's pushed narrative of right vs. left] rise and stand up to [respond] VOTE.

Relative to this weeks Duggan's mayoral win, well that was an easy-peasy win: there was no candidate compelling enough to effectively vote him out! Nope.

There’s precious little “far left” in this country. We have one party that has devolved into borderline fascist/anti-democracy and one that’s pretty split between center/center-left and somewhat progressive.

    But congratulations to Mayor Mike.

Mike Duggan is not well liked by many who worked for him at DMC. But he got the job done.

He doesn't have to be well liked to run the city well. I am pleased that he got re-elected. I wouldn't mind him go for another term after this one... that would make him 71 after 4 terms.
