I learned a new word 'Carceral' which is related to high rates of incarceration, the prison industrial complex, police or prosecutorial malfeasance, and the misguided and failed war on drugs. Here's a bit of Detroit history that I remember like it was yesterday.

The Republic of New Afrika [RNA], founded in 1968 in Detroit, still exists.

When last was the RNA violent? The record states that the DPD [and possibly the FBI] started the shooting at New Bethel in 1969 after a peaceful meeting marking the first anniversary of RNAs founding.
