The Politico article may have been written with left perspectives and assumptions but made good points. If South Asian immigrants agree with Republicans more than Democrats and liberal university have been discrimination against Asian Americans , why haven't Republicans reached out to Asian Americans? Blacks, Asian Americans and Hispanic Americans all voted for Trump in higher percentages in 2020 than in 2016. To me that says more than all the allegations of 'racism'.

One demographic change the article glosses over is the shift of upper middle class well educated Republicans to the Democratic Party in 2020. It wasn't just that they were well educated but Trump appealed more to working class voters with "grievances". The rich are above all that and can display their white man's burden virtue better these days as Democrats not to mention better profit from cheaper foreign labor than working Americans.

Oakland County's population has grown at the expense of Detroit's diaspora. That brought in Democrats. An aside is that Detroit used to be more Republican too. I can't help but think that Republicans lived in many of those fine homes on E. Grand Blvd.. But even with large numbers of Democrats moving into Oakland County, the place was so rich that Oakland County still has an average family income of over $80,000. That reflects a large upper middle class that has turned more Democratic to signal their virtue and profit. What we have is the growth of a typical Democratic economy with elites allied with the very poor. This political change is not new. The article mentioned Bill Clinton's significant Oakland County victory in 1996. It just takes longer to replace well known community officials as they age and retire.

Satiricalivory deserves point for his/her schadenfreude display.
