    Detroit won the HUD grant.

Here's what they plan to do with it:

This will be very transformative for the area, especially North Corktown having so many empty lots developed.

The improvements to the Clement Kern site is transformative. Those units currently have just a tiny front window for residents to look out of, which is appalling. Also, great to see the development open up 10th and 11th streets to break up the superblock-ness of development. Too bad the development has more parking spaces than green spaces. It would be beneficial to residents with small children to have a play area for each phase. There does appear to be a small "sandbox" area in phase two.

One question, "Is the Owen School site an old school building site? The current Burton International School is the former Owen Park School.

There was an elementary school at 3033 15th, also called Owen Elementary. It was built in 1964, torn down in 2010. Name: D6z5_kJXkAUEvFu.jpg

In fact, there was another John Owen school before those two at Myrtle and Vermont built in 1876.
